In this case, I just figured there was enough feedback in all of our other threads.

Guest badbob Posted April 14, 2010 Share #22 Posted April 14, 2010 That sounds a lot better actually. From some of the postings and some of the reviews it seemed like while it there was no argument about what IQ its sensor and optic would bring there were mixed reports on it's 'gravitas'. I wondered about that before I got the camera, but when I finally unwrapped it, I was delighted, and felt it was worth at least 2 thousand dollars American, just from the look and feel. phancj Posted April 23, 2010 Share #23 Posted April 23, 2010 I find this camera to be really fun coz I can bring it with me everywhere....instead of my Nikon D300. This morning, on my way to work, spotted this scene so whipped out X1 and took this shot...there were many instances like this where I could take reasonable nice pics simply coz my camera is with me! That to me is the real appeal of this camera. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Lighter like a DLUX is good. Light like an old Ansco plastic camera was the image that I was conjuring up when I'd read these posts. Since NOTHING has still been available to literally hold in my own two hands I've had to rely on the kindness (and accuracy) of the rest of you. brill64 Posted April 28, 2010 Share #24 Posted April 28, 2010 well done, lovely image to catch on your way to work and certainly in the spirit of the thing. way to go. i think in use the idea behind the "loose" dials, which i think refers to the detente, leica may have designed it purposefully that way. with the camera at roughly eye level in one hand, it's easy to make critical adjustments to focus, shutter speed and aperture with one finger and thumb whilst checking the monitor. if they had stronger click stops, this could not be done with such ease. I agree with this, and it emphasizes (to me at least) the idea that the X1 is very much a manual camera rather than "automatic" in the normal sense (i.e. automatic means set the dials and have no further concern about checking the settings). phancj Posted April 29, 2010 Share #26 Posted April 29, 2010 Thanks for the kind encouragement... :-) Actually when i bought the camera first, the first thing that struck me was how great the dials were, just the right amount of flick and the dials sort of "click" into place, like they were really well engineered. Thats why I was so surprised when there was so much negative talk about it. I prefer the dials very much to the ones on my Nikon, they seem "rough" in some way...I would compare the iphone (very sensitive and responsive UI) to the dials on the X1- enjoyable to use! Just my humble opinion....
