JHAG Posted May 16, 2010 Share #21 Posted May 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is a gentle softness and a likeness with film from the Macro Elmar. But the 50 Summilux ASPH (my lens of choise with 75 Lux) really shines in #1, rendering those spiky flowers almost agressive. A truly inspiring lens. Doc Henry Posted May 16, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted May 16, 2010 There is a gentle softness and a likeness with film from the Macro Elmar. But the 50 Summilux ASPH (my lens of choise with 75 Lux) really shines in #1, rendering those spiky flowers almost agressive. A truly inspiring lens. Thank you for your kind comments and for looking these pictures. I also find that the 50mm Summilux goes well with the M9 and with the M8 too This is an extremely luminous lens and can also be used for the portrait is n't? roguewave Posted May 20, 2010 Share #25 Posted May 20, 2010 Doc, a lovely set with some of the best colors I've seen in your images. The Ghost orchid is my favorite. My great uncle would take me in a canoe into the Everglades on winter vacations to gather orchids & wild plants.
leicamann Posted May 22, 2010 Share #26 Posted May 22, 2010 Judging by the types of flowers and plants..I'd say you are living somewhere on the West Coast....possibly Seattle.....of course the San Juans are a great place too for gardening Some of the shots are very nice..but the ambient light is too intense for the digital,..try taking your shots on cloudy days..you'll see the "true quality" come out Film will do the same in bright contrasty light..... sometimes I will shoot when its raining..thats the best uniform low contrast light. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
Doc Henry Posted May 30, 2010 Author Share #27 Posted May 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry for the delay in reply… Doc, a lovely set with some of the best colors I've seen in your images. The Ghost orchid is my favorite. My great uncle would take me in a canoe into the Everglades on winter vacations to gather orchids & wild plants. Thank you Ben for taking time to watch and for your comments Judging by the types of flowers and plants..I'd say you are living somewhere on the West Coast....possibly Seattle.....of course the San Juans are a great place too for gardening All these flowers were taken in a public garden in France during the tulip season in spring Some of the shots are very nice..but the ambient light is too intense for the digital,..try taking your shots on cloudy days..you'll see the "true quality" come outFilm will do the same in bright contrasty light..... sometimes I will shoot when its raining..thats the best uniform low contrast light. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM you are right in the sense that sometimes it's too bright, perhaps it would underexpose a bit (however, there is a thread that says that M9 underexpose?). The Summilux 50mm is a luminous lens ! Film is sometimes better than digital in my opinion... .... beautiful photos of flowers on your link Regards to both of you Henry
