spylaw4 Posted April 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Potential visit and talk to the London group (and anyone else that wants to come along) on a Sunday (date to be decided but probably May sometime) at the IWM lecture theatre. Illustrated talk on Leica's pre-war and wartime activities, by Frank Dabba Smith. More details are yet to be confirmed but I hope that a) there will be a goodly number of takers Entry to the IWM will be free for those participating c) Internal photography will be allowed d) we can combine this with e.g. a Westminster area outing. Should be worthwhile - Who's interested?

Red Dot Cameras Posted April 8, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 8, 2010 Excellent news all, point b is ok as entry is free except to temporary exhibitions. It won't be on Sunday the 23rd. May - looking at 9th, 30th or 6th June at present. Posting from work - hence the name! Brian
spylaw4 Posted April 8, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted April 8, 2010 Ahh a correction needed here, 6th June is out. I'll get back to you all.
spylaw4 Posted April 8, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted April 8, 2010 Having been in touch with the IWM and our speaker today - the date will have to be 27 June! This does I think co-incide with a quarterly London meeting date? There will in fact be two speakers - after Frank Dabba Smith, Grant Rogers the IWM Education Officer, will give a short talk on Auschwitz. Talks will begin at 1:30 pm. Jon Sareen Leica's S2 UK marketing manager will be bringing his S2, so you can bring your own SD card to take some shots prior to the meeting. We can decide on the rest of the day's format over the next while. Forum members will get 1st shot at places in the auditorium, although with a capacity of 100 I don't think we'll fill it! MPerson Posted April 8, 2010 Share #12 Posted April 8, 2010 Going to have to pass on this at the end of June as we are house hunting in the Dungeness area and may be on the move around then.
biglouis Posted April 8, 2010 Share #13 Posted April 8, 2010 OK - well that seals the 27th of June as far as I am concerned. Please put me down. Perhaps you should start a separate thread on the date and the meet? LouisB
farnz Posted April 8, 2010 Share #14 Posted April 8, 2010 Yes, I'm in for the 27th June too; fortunately it doesn't clash with Zingst which is 3rd June. At the Highgate/Hampstead:o meeting we had pencilled in a trip to Greenwich for the June meet-up but we can fit this in later I feel sure. Pete. Alan Philpotts Posted April 8, 2010 Share #15 Posted April 8, 2010 Please count me in for 27 June. Thanks for putting this together Brian. Nice to see folks at RDC today. Regards Alan
spylaw4 Posted April 9, 2010 Author Share #16 Posted April 9, 2010 Oops! Alan's posting has reminded me that in my haste to get the date out to everyone, I did not give due credit to Ivor at Red Dot Cameras for coming up with the idea of using the IWM and for sorting dates etc. out with Grant at IWM and with Frank. It's up to us now to make the 27th a worthwhile occasion!
lanetomlane Posted April 9, 2010 Share #17 Posted April 9, 2010 I/We should be okay for the 27th June and so if you'd be kind enough to pencil us in that would be great. Thanks for putting this together. _____________________ Regards, Tom Photography by Tom Lane
