wda Posted December 20, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2006 Noel, after a day when the UK has been shrouded in mist - and cold freezing mist, too - I feel that your shot would benefit by a tiny adjustment in Levels, just to bring the mist a little whiter; It may be worth experimenting with your software. stuny Posted December 21, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Noel - Better, but I think it can be better still lightened just a bit more, and with the contrast boosted just a bit, too.
Irishimage Posted December 21, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted December 21, 2006 Yes, please do post some more. Lovely pub in Roundwood - excellent food. Peter Must be the Coach House or Roundwood Inn ..often stop there myself for a bite to eat when i'm in the area . good food in both .. Most photos i'v taken in Wicklow over the last 6 years are from pre-Leica days as i'v only just purchased the V-lux 2 weeks ago .. taken with a Sony S-70 Cybershot ..with Carl Zeiss lens.. good little camera in my opinion which produced good quality images at times .. so will dig into the archives and post one here .. ps, if you've any photos yourself of Wicklow would love to see some .. its a place i'm very familier with. While i totally agree with Stuart, it's worth the try Noel, 'cos this is a nicely seen and captured image. Best Azzo
Irishimage Posted December 22, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted December 22, 2006 Azzo.. Up to recently i never bothered too much with processing images ..just relied on my camera settings to get it right .. but now with the V-Lux offering so many menu options i find its quiet easy to get things wrong .. i'm not complaining about the camera as i find it offers me lots of new photographic opportunities and am more then pleased with it. So many thanks for your kind comments regarding my photo ..will give it another go as suggested by yourself and Stuart .. Regards Noel
wda Posted December 22, 2006 Share #12 Posted December 22, 2006 Noel, Your image is quite challenging photographically. Default settings gave you the first image posted. The advantage of using Photoshop (or similar) is that you can experiment and produce variations which may, or may not, please you. But you learn about the possibilities. I tried, very quickly, to see if I could brighten your image to suit my taste, but perhaps not other people's. See what you think; I won't be offended if you don't like it. Irishimage Posted December 23, 2006 Author Share #13 Posted December 23, 2006 David, Interesting how much more detail comes through with your lightened edit .. i think if i could put more balance between my cropped effort and your's i might just settle for that .. Will post the result as soon as festive commitments are out of the way .. Noel
Peter41951 Posted December 24, 2006 Share #14 Posted December 24, 2006 Noel Yes, it's the Roundwood Inn. Had an excellent lunch there after climbing the smaller sugar loaf. Unfortunately all my Irish photographs are non-Leica, though if I visit next year, I'll take my M6 with me. Happy Christmas.
