mjm6 Posted April 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks, Ive decided to part ways with the 28mm elmarit and get a 24mm lens, and so I need a little info that I haven't seen yet in my searching. I know the 24mm elmar is fantastic, even wide open, but I think I would probably prefer a little higher speed in the elmarit. However, I'll give up that extra speed if it avoids needing special attention to correct for the Red Edge problems. Can any speak directly to whether either of these lenses show more R.E., or if there is none to worry about in either one? I've seen some mention that the elmarit shows some R.E., but haven't seen a comparison between the two. Thanks, ---Michael
Advertisement Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Hi mjm6, Take a look here 24mm lenses on the M9 -> Red Edge question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ario Arioldi Posted April 4, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 4, 2010 I have the Elmarit only and I have not seen any trace of RE using this lens. Cheers, Ario
scott kirkpatrick Posted April 4, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2010 The Elmar 24, the most compact of the three 24s now being manufactured, is the only candidate for red edge issues among the three. It was mentioned as one addressed with refined vignetting corrections in the latest firmware, while the other two were not considered problem lenses. scott
mjm6 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted April 4, 2010 Thanks Scott and Ario, I hadn't noticed that in the FW update, but of course that makes sense. I'm going to search out a elmarit for my purposes. ---Michael
