Fotodiox Pro Adapter, Leica R Lens to Nikon Camera Mount Adapter

Those are adaptors to mount onto Canons. I couldn't see an R-> Nikon version on their website.

Canons and Rs mount clockwise, Nikons mount anti-clockwise. That's one of the reasons why you need to physically change the mount, not just use an adaptor.

The Leitax ones work beautifully, and take about 10 minutes (max) to fit.

From: Leica FAQ - Leica R & M lens mount adapters ?

"You cannot mount Nikon F lenses onto Leica R cameras or vice-versa without modification as the LTF difference is only 0.5mm — too thin to be able to machine an adapter ring to fit.

So one solution is radical lens or body mount surgery by a camera technician." You can find a conversion ring here:

Amazon.com: Fotodiox Pro Adapter, Leica R Lens to Nikon Camera Mount Adapter -- for Nikon D1, D2, D2x, D2h, D3, D3x, D3h, D100, D200, D300, D300s, D700, D40, D40x, D50, D60, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D5000, D3000: Camera & Photo

That is more or less identical to the Leitax solution that I use, but these rings aren't obvious on the Fotodiox website.

Radical lens surgery is a bit drastic on Andrew's part. It's dead simple, at least with the Leitax solution.

Fotodiox Pro Adapter selling on amazon. Is this like the Leitax adapter. Does one still have to disassemble the R lens mount to place the Fotodiox adapter? Anyone who has experience with this adaptor.:)

The Leitax solution has been discussed (and recommended) in several threads here; do a search and I'm certain you will get several hits. As others have said, it really is a non-radical and fairly simpel - as well as fully reversible - procedure.
