pop Posted October 25, 2010 Share #61  Posted October 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Pop, thanks for the comments on my behalf,... I'm on my way to Morocco with the hubby, and for the record he is only 2 years (younger) than me.I've been happlly married for 22 years now with 4 beautiful children, 3 girls and 1 boy. The 2 twin girls just graduated from UC Berkley, and the other 2 are first and second year students at UCLA.  Emma, you're quite welcome. You made you hubby rich beyond measure. Have a nice and safe journey and don't forget to take a picture or two.  So far you have only negated contribution and provided nothing, so you might as well ...  To be exact, Emma gave a precise and to the point evaluation as to the strength and weaknesses to both cameras mentioned in the OP in situations given by the OP. I gave a very brief summary of that statement.  I myself own a camera which is somewhat similar to the X1 and some M type cameras. My experience have been much as Emma describes it. In poor light or when the subject moves in not so poor light you're better off randomly spinning the focus wheel of the little wonder.  Her posts have been contradictory, ignorant, rude, and classless... ... . Her posts absolutely stink of Internet troll. .  Oh. How would one describe your posts, then?  Also, how many years of school does it take to arrive at a bunch of sentences like I certainly don't think that the x1 is durable...and from what I have seen (don't own one) it dent appear the m digitals are either. I've certainly seen some torn up digital m's even when people say they babies them  First stones, anyone?  She also has been called a Leica basher. Funny kind of Leica bashing when one says that in certain situation she prefers the more expensive Leica over the other one.  Lastly, Emma made it quite clear that she was somewhat disappointed with her X1 especially in low light settings. Now anyone really fit for discussing those qualities of a camera can tell at once what happened. Lots of out-of-focus shots and frames where the main attraction had fled or walked out before the camera managed to do an exposure. High quality shots of empty streets or portraits of heels, with the occasional lucky shot thrown in. Of what use would such shots be in a "discussion" like this? Does anyone care to bet what kind of wisecracks would be vented, especially after she had told what kind of equipment she called her own?
Advertisement Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hi pop, Take a look here X1 vs the M9 for low light only. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest stnami Posted October 25, 2010 Share #62 Â Posted October 25, 2010 Surely she will post comparison shots of her X1, M9 and S2. A strange expectation after you guys called her a 14 year old causing mischief. Maybe you guys would be better off upping the quality in your harmony challenge as it is looking very ordinary image wise.......... instead you are yapping on about how great the X1 is but cannot show it in your images. Even your illustrious leader phancie hasn't posted
ChiILX1 Posted October 25, 2010 Share #63 Â Posted October 25, 2010 Your analysis of her comments conveniently decontextualizes all of them to flatter one of her sentences and omit her decisively damning and embarassing cesspool of posts (including the "first ston"e which hit phancj, not Emma). Â If she can hold her 60k worth of equipment steady the shots are useful for a sensor comparison. That's why I requested their posting, curiously she has yet to produce any photos. Â Read her cosistently contradictory posts and then draw your own conclusions. And I'm not the only person who thinks my X1 produces splendid images. Â My link is in my signature and I've posted plenty of shots. Where are hers? Zero. All she's done is criticize others shots while producing nothing with every Leica in existence (supposedly). Guest stnami Posted October 25, 2010 Share #66 Â Posted October 25, 2010 I don't have time for the contest specifically in a graduate student bs........There is no indication in your images that demonstrates that you are a cut above and there is very little that indicates the exceptional qualities of the X1
h00ligan Posted October 26, 2010 Share #67 Â Posted October 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The contest rules state only minor post work. Since from what I've seen you are aiming at digital art not flat photography I don't know what it would take to please you. Maybe you can link me to a post where you've offered any positive thoughts for work displayed. I don't recall that happening but you've been here longer than I and it's quite possible I've missed supportive or positive comments you've made. "Cut above"??? I said I don't have time because I'm a grad student and that means I'm a "cut above?" Let me put it this way- I don't have time because I'm getting my Ph D reading 300 pages a day. No bs there- anything unclear? Photography is just a hobby I used to enjoy before asking innocent questions on public forums only to be mauled by Internet junkies like you with nothing better to do than make up for thir own inadequacies. h00ligan Posted October 26, 2010 Share #69 Â Posted October 26, 2010 Well. Take that x1 with you everyday and maybe an opportunity will arise. Well be happy to see your entry. ChiILX1 Posted October 26, 2010 Share #70 Â Posted October 26, 2010 Well. Take that x1 with you everyday and maybe an opportunity will arise. Well be happy to see your entry. What's your field of choice for the phd? That's a lot of work to be sure. Â Thanks for being one of the pleasant ones on this forum. Honestly- let's all play with this and have fun, no? Â I do have it with me everyday and try to enjoy my walks between places by using it. The Fall colors here are beautiful, especially in Hyde Park, so I've been trying to capture the peacefulness of campus and the foliage. To be clear for others- I don't profess to be a photographic guru, I just enjoy great photos and always am trying to get better. I'll try to take you up on your challenge. If I take a harmonious shot I will enter it. Â My field is anthropology. I study Indigenous epistemology and linguistics. Hopefully by the time I do my fieldwork I'll be great with this camera (although I need to find a way of charging it in the "bush" still ;-)
phancj Posted October 26, 2010 Share #71 Â Posted October 26, 2010 It was clarified in an earlier unintelligible post. Where I was genuinely trying to understand her and why she had concerns, and help (at which point she was rude to me). She confirmed she was. I've probably dated less native english speakers than native in my life, so that is usually my first thought and I try to be patient. She wore my patience out with her sour attitude and conflicting 'stories' along with her flippant, 'my hubby is rich statement'. Her posts have been contradictory, ignorant, rude, and classless...so sure I can be cast as a bad guy for making a dig that with her superb education, loads of money, tons of cameras...she doesn't seem to even be able to regularly write organized thoughts with proper word usage...I'm not even talking about being a grammar Nazi or the like. Her posts absolutely stink of Internet troll. Â I get my comments here have rubbed people the wrong way, sorry for that. They are not in any way worse though than the trolling she has done on this forum. Â You know my postings js, seriously, read her previous posts. Â This is the last response I'll offer in this thread, and I did so only because of the poster asking the question, who I genuinely enjoy sharing this space with (along with several others). Yes, she got under my skin, and I posted a dig I probably shouldn't have. Â I wouldnt put it that strongly, though I agree with some of the things you say. Â What disturbs me more strongly is how she asked to see metadata and extent of PP when she saw my shots. Â Everyone knows my preference for minimum PP and if you download the photo you will see ALL the exif data in ALL my shots EVER posted are intact and untouched. I do not even know how to alter the exif data. Her earlier posts were aggressive after I posted the photos and she then proceeded to challenge me for even more dire photographic situations. I would have preferred her to post some of her own photos that was taken by ANY other cameras leicas or not to prove her point. But she didnt. Â Put it this way, without any photo, anything really to show for it I would seriously discount anything she has to say. Bragging about her cameras is USELESS for everyone here without anything to contribute like say difficult shots taken by the M9 which the X1 cannot handle, etc, etc. Â If anything, I think the X1 is an EXTREMELY capable machine, I can honestly say I am not a good photographer by a far shot but since having the X1 I have taken some shots that many have positive comments on. To me that counts for something. Â ANd NO, I do not think for a second that intelligence is linked to linguistic skills. My wife, who is great, is not an English speaker. But she is so much smarter, wiser and a better person than myself.

Photography is just a hobby I used to enjoy before asking innocent questions on public forums only to be mauled by Internet junkies like you with nothing better to do than make up for thir own inadequacies. No time for a photo contest. Although I wish...  My good advice? The ignore list. That way noise can be effectively filtered.  There are those who try and those who just blabber.  Post your photo, any one. No need to listen to detractors. A lot of X1 owners are also budding amateurs, nothing to be ashamed of. Whats more shameful is the judgmental, arrogant guys who cannot stand for others' happiness and joy in a new hobby and take every opportunity to slam leica, photos posted, etc, etc. It smacks of a person without any success and happiness in life and try to derive any remnants of joy by deriding others at every opportunity.  If anything, these trolls should post their photos so we can all see how great and mighty they are.  HCB, Ansel, etc,etc the greats will never behave like these nasty pp. Forget them.  The X1 take great pictures, and even if our photos posted aint great it takes nothing away from the camera or the user, its a learning process. I feel sorry for the dimwits who think they are clever just because they can make snide and condescending remarks at every opportunity.  I do not see them doing their thing so often in the M9 forum, to me a clear indication of their insecurity and lack of self-worth. Yes they may be experienced, good in PP, etc,etc but the attitude itself invites disaster and a sad life for sure. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my X1, along with my other cameras and more to come. phancj Posted October 26, 2010 Share #73  Posted October 26, 2010 Hi Pop, thanks for the comments on my behalf, boy there seems to be quite a bit of disappointment here about who I am and what I own. Its a shame that people want proof all the time in regards to anything such as a simple statement or question asked in a thread. I really don't give care about insolence rudeness shown by some on this thread, however, and I know that it is present here and part of the leica forum. I have searched and read through (almost all of the responses) made by by those posters who chose to challenge me, and over half of there responses in numerous other threads here show the same type of insolent behavior. So it really dosn't surprise me at all the comments that they made. Anyways I have my MBP with me where ever I go in the world so I'll be chiming in every know and then. Got too finish packing. Emma  Emma,  You asked for proof of metadata and my extent of PP. That is after I posted photos to substantiate.  So when I asked for photos you cannot post any?  Strange kind of double standards really.  I like to consider everyone genuine, and really do hope you post some comparison shots taken in dire conditions with your M9 and S2. Now that you have sold your X1?  Wishing you safe and happy journey, with loads of photos possibly some for us to enjoy. Some in very challenging low-light, please. Guest stnami Posted October 26, 2010 Share #76 Â Posted October 26, 2010 The colours are a bit oversaturated for the subject, though I don't mind the portrait format. h00ligan Posted October 26, 2010 Share #78 Â Posted October 26, 2010 Â ANd NO, I do not think for a second that intelligence is linked to linguistic skills. My wife, who is great, is not an English speaker. But she is so much smarter, wiser and a better person than myself. Â I guess I need to introduce you all to my Dutch Indo girlfriend. I have zero issues with the mastery of the English language for those who aren't native speakers. It's sad that is, at the end of all of this bs, what came through. Â My issues with her are numerous, my assertion about her bs comments and attitude are linked to her massive misuse of basic things while she states she IS a native speaker. Frankly she's a sour person who needs lessons in manners typically not found in those with money and class. Â I'm tired of this thread, again. I only respond because someone I enjoy hearing from responded and I don't want the misunderstanding I'm some sort of jackass who demands perfect English, I don't. Â Pretty much NOTHING she says lines up without contradiction. Her inability to communicate was just the first red flag. I really am done now, if you have an issue with what I said - PM me, because frankly I'm quite sure 'she' doesn't exist as any sort of real person relative to what 'she' posts. Â Goodnight folks... it's really time to get the nastiness and bs hate speech and well, for all my supposed demands for perfect English, craptasm out of this board. I'm getting really sick of the negativity, I just don't need it - and it's extremely thick here relative to other forums where people are actually polite. It's an absolute shame that a 34 year old has more manners and tact than someone with far advanced years. Â I have had plenty of criticism for Leica - read my previous posts (recent one in the m9 forum), I'm not some Leica apologist.. but a troll is a troll. She got called out and vanished... at least for a while. I'm sure we will all be enlightened with her S2 Morocco images and be wowed at her skill level.
