adan Posted April 9, 2010 Author Share #21 Posted April 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, everyone. Followup: Having tried out a Canon 70-300 zoom, I discovered that I tend to see tele shots at about a 250mm view - I was always backing off from 300mm to 235-260mm, and rarely wishing for 400. I also discovered that for the 180 Fov, I'd rather just crop from a 135 shot on the M9 (pseudo M8 effect) So I tracked down a Telyt 250mm f/4 v.2. It lacks a little of the punch of the Canon lens in the center, but has more consistent performance across the frame, far less pincushion distortion, about the same CA, and smoother bokeh (15 elements put a strain on the light rays). Plus it is f/4 whereas the zoom really needed f/8 for top performance. And it has those little details the Canon lacks ergonomically - an aperture ring and a large smooth focus ring. I'm good. Thanks again. 5D, Leitz 250mm f/4 Telyt - (not my normal subject matter, but something I could try out the lens on quickly) Welcome, dear visitor!
