Mauribix Posted March 29, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just FYI, last night I was shooting at a Musical gig in a theater, M9 and D700, the M9 took 437shots with just one battery before I need to change it. I can't remember of a similar performance before that. Preview was on with 3sec. setting ( I just covered the screen with the Luigi's case), minor chimp (as to check exposure changes from time to time), full manual mode. Did someone experienced the same or made a comparison?
Advertisement Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi Mauribix, Take a look here Improved power consumption with new FW?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 29, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2010 it seems to me to be about the same. maybe it is that the battery is "running in"? Li-Ion batteries need a number of charges before they come to full capacity.
Mauribix Posted March 29, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 29, 2010 Jaap, that battery was one of the bunch I already had with my M8. Anyway, that's good to know it's not just my feeling. Could this behavior related to the "low-fi" preview? My guess is that it takes less power to calculate that first preview, but I'm not sure about that of course. jaapv Posted March 29, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2010 That could be it, I rarely use the LCD.
chris_tribble Posted March 29, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2010 Maurizio - I really recommend trying the Preview option "Shutter Button" option - it works great for me - I only have a preview when I want one - and should improve battery life even further. Best...
Mauribix Posted March 29, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted March 29, 2010 Thank you Chris, I knew that feature but... I was just a bit lazy last night so I didn't choose that option last night , anyway it's as good as it gets when I don't want to bother/distract the audience and the artists with the LCD.
