Advertisement Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi barcoder, Take a look here wide angle 18mm or 24mm for the M9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Hacker Posted March 30, 2010 Share #22 Posted March 30, 2010 Ha, i have a massive crush on the 24 lux, i would love that lens but shouldn't! Or the 21 Lux, a compromise between the 18mm and the 24mm.
gwelland Posted March 30, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 30, 2010 In comparative terms the M9/24 'lux is stealth compared to whipping out a Canon DSLR & 24/1.4L in a restaurant situation. I can just hear the comments from SWMBO now ...
Shade Posted March 31, 2010 Share #24 Posted March 31, 2010 I'm really interested in the 21 lux to complement my 35 lux and 50 lux. However I'm not much of a wideangle guy, I'm worried I won't use much of my 21 lux. So I'm considering getting a voigtlander 15mm/4.5 or 21mm/4, or a zeiss 21mm/2.8 - however, my dealer on has the 15mm available. I'm also looking into the 18mm/3.8 Elmar, however, I'm still really considering if it will be money well spent for my photography style. I'm using m9.. gwelland Posted March 31, 2010 Share #25 Posted March 31, 2010 That was my choice too - 21/35/50 'lux and a 90 Elmarit. If you don't shoot wide much then it might be an expensive choice. On the other hand, you may also find the 21'lux enticing you to shoot more because of it's character.
Shade Posted March 31, 2010 Share #26 Posted March 31, 2010 Gwelland: yes, but I'm really thinking hard. Usd 5000-ish for a lens that might not get used as much as my 35/50 might sound over-budget.. But we'll see, I'm browsing reviews and pics at the moment. But I'm more inclined on getting a voigtlander first, incase I don't like using wideangles, it can just stay in the bag without adding weight or punch a hole in my bank account haha.. shootinglulu Posted March 31, 2010 Author Share #27 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Shade. In the 10 months that i've used the M8, my taste in lenses has become wider for every day use, not sure how used to the Leica M you are.
piero Posted April 1, 2010 Share #28 Posted April 1, 2010 Piero - just reviewed your splendid work with the M9 and wide lenses. I'm fascinated that you've not been enaging on the red-edge debate. Is it because you're too busy taking correctly exposed real photos for real clients in real places? Do keep up the good work! thanks for your kind comment, Chris, I did not bump into the red problem, though I have crashed against the card reader problem... yes, I do take some thinking before exposing and I do try to get acquainted to the medium's way to measure light. the old fashion way, me being an old fart...
