I am in total agreement. I just wish I could afford the Luigi case.

Luigi's prices are close to unbelievable . . . either he lives in utter luxury on the proceeds or pays his workers the same rates that lawyers and accountants charge. I prefer to think it's the latter :)

However, his "economy" line of cases are more down-to-earth in price and I've been well pleased with mine. It looks good, protects the body nicely and - for my hands - enhances the camera's "holdability".

I ordered it via his eBay site and it arrived in a fortnight.

This is my Luigi 1/2. I have it for some 2 weeks and it has been on the camera for a week. As said, Luigi's cases are one of a kind. Beautifully made, superb leather, perfect fit and gorgeous looks.

But I can't get used to it around my M8 so I'm thinking about selling it. This is the version with the build-in grip, USB door and cut-out for a Thumbs-Up (all extras). If anyone is interested, PM me.

In Italy businesses get charged with horrendous taxes. If he really makes all the cases by hand, the prices are well worth it. However, his economy class cases are not hand sewn, and i ordered also one of them. Because it does not matter.

Do you really think Luigi's prices depends on the "horrendus italian taxes"??.....here in Italy i could find hundreds of artisans who produce the same simple cases at half the price.....Here in Italy i could also find thousands of chinese artisans that could produce very high quality cases and sell it as an "italian product" :p

I think Luigis prices have to do with handmade and material quality, salaries and taxation (on profit and salaries).

Off course You can buy chinese products. They are cheaper, like everything that gets produced in China. Hope i don´t need to explain why.

If Luigi gets rich by his work who cares? I rather see him getting rich through honest work than a manager from the chinese KP through copying products, exploitation of workers and using bad and unhealthy materials. :p

I'd love to see a site with all the extras shown, my M8u came with a non adjustable leather strap which automatically made me think that I should get something else but when I used it, it was perfect.

My personal wish list of "pimp" products would include:-

A hand crafted wooden grips, always had a soft spot for the Pentax 6x7 version.

Soft cover to protect my glasses for the viewfinder window - same for 1.25 magnifier, I find the eyecup extra, places my eye too far away thus making frame lines almost impossible to see.

A fresh approach to protection (half cases, cases, bags etc) the retro Luigi is all very well but I'm sure carbon fibre and other contemporary materials could make fantastic looking and highly practical products.

Did you recover your M8. The leather/leatherette looks more grainy than mine.

I did, yeah, with the leatherette from cameraleathers, but when I sent my M8 to Leica to get the update, it returned with vulcanite on it, and that is what you see here, the standard Leica vulcanite. I have another cameraleathers leatherette which I might apply over the holidays. It looks more like the standard M6 leatherette.

Luigi there.

I can't avoid to answer to such a MALICIOUS Post ! (I also wrote directly to this fellow...)

I make my cases by MYSELF, and with the help or two fine, experienced, very well paid for

Italian artisans ! My cases production is experiencing a crisis, due to the many (special) orders,

and despite my efforts since the month of Jume 2010, I am been UNABLE to find other fine

artisans ! I am now trainng two more guys, and will see if the product's quality will be acceptable.

What is sure, I will never sell around poor cases, or imitations of my cases ! (There are enough around...)

This is not a SPAM message. Let me get the chance to apologize for the slowness of some

deliveries, and I wish a Mery Christmas and an Happy New year to all members !

Ciao, Luigi Crescenzi

Isn´t it funny how people buy and appreciate a very expensive camera made in germany, its quality etc... They pay many 1000,- for an M8 or M9 without hesitation. And on the other side they complain about a manufacturer who also makes high end quality cases for this expensive cameras and about his well justified prices? I don´t get it.

I received on of Luigi´s cases this week, and I am more than satisfied. The quality of the material and every detail of the case is AAA+!!! Keep up the excellent work, Luigi. There are people who appreciate it. And who pay without complaining for your excellent work. The others may buy chinese crap...

I look at Luigi Crescenzi's products almost every day because I am very fond of high-quality, handmade products. I am reminded of the days long past where our family could buy hand-made shoes near our home in Rhode Island, and they were not particularly expensive then, either. I lived with my dear Grandfather who made so many things by hand. In fact, I made my own camera because that was just how things were done then. Here are a couple pictures of the later version.

So, here is to our friend Luigi Crescenzi, whom I admire so much for his dedication and talent! It is heartening to know he is around.

I was dubious about the value of Luigi's stuff until my wife gave me one of his straps for a birthday present. I now think they are worth every penny and bought one of his beautiful little battery cases as well.

Here is a photo of my "pimped" twins. Both recovered; the M8 with Rollei Black Magic and the M9 with Slate Blue Kid. The slate blue might be just a tad too "Mr. Sober Sides". I have moved the Luigi strap from my M8 to the 9 and use a Abrahamson mini softie on both as I am missing the tip of my right index finger. I have a satin chromed Thumbie on the M8 but still a rubber Bumpon on the M9, while I await delivery of the correct compressed air union, so that I can spray another Thumbie matching Steel Grey with an airbrush. I use old fashioned Broomwade bayonet air couplings and all new air tools use parallel thread 1/4 BSP fittings. All my Broomwade couplings are 1/4 BSP tapered thread. I ordered four new parallel thread male couplings and the stockist sent me four tapered thread old stock ones in error.

Dear Luigi,

I have so far already bought five of your full cases (3 SL2s, 1 M3 and one Digilux2) and must say that nothing is more in harmony with the ethos of Leica on this front. Do not worry about the imitators- they are always about and then move on to other things! Good luck with your expansion/training, and meanwhile also wish you and all your family a wonderfully happy Christmas and a very healthy, successful and interesting 2011.

When you can't afford fine clothes, go naked!

:D

Yes still we need clothes to keep us from naked but not the Fine clothes is THE Only altrenative. we can always do without Chanel, Hermes,Valanciago,Lanvan. but,... but.. Yes we know there is a taste between differents and threre is always a different proven quality between image making instrument call cameras of which the Leica has set it foot print.:D
