Hello

I am looking for an appropriate flash for using with my M6 and M7. The new Leica flash is rather expensive, and I am told that is manufactured by Metz. Metz models are more reasonable in price and the following two models are claimed to work with Leica cameras:

-Metz 44 MZ-2 digital for Leica

- Metz 54 MZ-4i digital for Leica

Any suggestions?

Thanks and regards,

Olivio

Which flash for M6 and M7?

NONE!

When someone asked Gene Smith, "Mr Smith, do you always use available light?" Gene's reply was : "Yes, any damn light that's available". So use available light until it runs out, one way or another. Then use any damn flash that's available.

A Metz flash that takes the SC3502 adapter can utliize the TTL capacity of the M7. Unless the M6 is a M6TTL, that question is of course moot.

Im using a Metz 36 C2 on my M6 together with a 1,5m sync cord, they are extremely cheap (pricewise that is, about 70€ new), quite powerfull (guidenumber 118feet/36 meters), rather small and reasonable well build, apart from the battery door. Apart from said door, I am very happy with it, I do have a classic M6 so you might want to look for something else to use with a M6 TTL.

Cheers,

Torsten

Unfortuneatly most of the Posts that responded to your question, did not really help you. Typical of the Internet.

I have the Metz 40 MZ-3 with 3502 M4 adapater and use this flash on my M7's and M6. Any of the Metz units with 3502 correct adapater will work on the M6 and M7. There are a number of different 3502 adapters and the Metz website will tell you the correct ones for your cameras. I also have the SF24D and if you don't need 21mm coverage or any of the bounce/swivel Modes of the Metz units, this Model SF24D or SF20 is much smaller for mounting on the camera. The Metz units really are large and suitable for handle mounting which is how my Metz is mounted off the camera. Just be sure you have the correct 3502 which will work with the M7 and you will be fine.-Dick
