matlep Posted March 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone with a old summilux who can level with me.. Are you supposed to be able to easily screw this lens apart? Long story short: I bought this lens used today and discovered this evening when i was going to take some test shots that the front part of the lens was loose. I could easily screw of the whole front part of the lens. Tried to screw it back on and discovered that i could unscrew the second part as well. That does not sound right, does it? The lens has been to a shop for calibration and new lubing. Tried it before this was done and it was all ok. Now, obviously since the lens parts are loose, it´s not sharp. I´m a bit disappointed.... Did the guy who worked on the lens do a bad job or is this model supposed to be easy to take apart? Comments appreciated.
Advertisement Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Hi matlep, Take a look here Question about an Summilux 50 (Ver 2, 1966). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2010 Whatever else, it should not be that easily unscrewable. The technician must have had shaky hands. I would return it to the shop if I were you.

marknorton Posted March 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 24, 2010 You can definitely unscrew the lens barrel (containing the lens elements and aperture) from the focus mount, an idea which dates from using these lenses on projectors. It shouldn't come apart more than that.
jaapv Posted March 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 24, 2010 Yes, Mark, but if he can unscrew it element by element, it is not quite the thing.
matlep Posted March 24, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted March 24, 2010 I returned the lens today. There had been a mistake from the serviceman. It was fixable, but i didnt really trust the shop so it went back.
