Yeah I love mine too. After reading all the negative stuff about it I really thought I was in for testing my patience by buying it- that soon I would have to be swallowing every time I ran into a shortcoming.

It's awesome. No complaints. The negativity is way overdone. The camera is astounding as far as usability, simplicity, and taking photographs instead of snapshots. It's a JOY.

Yeah I feel the exact same way. I just need to get over the fear of scratching it and get out and shoot! It's currently my only (real) camera and it's quite refreshing. I'm taking a break from dslrs for a while. I simply got sick of hauling a massive camera around everywhere.

^^^ Martin, That is a nice shot. How did you get the color/B&W separation?

Thank you David,

this technique is called "Colorkey" and I did it via PS CS. I found a Tutorial on YT

But sorry, it is in German :D

Just looking at my old trusty D300 (the workhorse) and my X1 and cant help seeing how exquisite and well-made the X1 is. Comparing the 2 cameras in terms of build quality, appeal, image quality I would have to say the X1 is very good value with its great lens, good materials , nice retro design...which is not to say my D300 is not good but it is just a working tool, my X1 is something else..

My X1 is good in the dark too. Auto. This taken with it's flash up, from third floor balcony.

The skin of my (already once replaced) X1 is peeling, and Leica are in denial.

I couldn't agree more. Is the camera up to the standards of a film M? No. It is nevertheless, a great little device.
