I'm also curious as to what printer and printer software people use.

These days I'm using the Photoshop CS3 beta almost exclusively - apart from an issue with the margins when printing it seems excellent. Otherwise CS2.

Printer, I have an Epson 950, but need to upgrade it at some point - A4 isn't big enough. I have my eye on a 3800, but the M8 will have to come first :-)

17" MacBook Pro, 2.66GHZ, 2GB RAM, no color calibration (yet).

I'm using an Epson Stylus Photo R800 and am finding it a great improvement over the Stylus Photo 890 it replaced. The way in which the 'Epson Darkroom Print for X' software, which is bundled with the R800, allows you to do test strips is very convenient. A4 is big enough for all of the printing I do.

Mac, of course... :-)

Funny thing...

Leica is kinda like Apple in the camera world, small but for entusiast/pro's looking

for more than a tool, Canon is the giant like Microsoft, good camera's no doubt but

completly without soul, and in my eyes just a tool...( i used to shoot with Canon, but not anymore...)

Macbook Pro

Mac Pro

M8

...The 3 M's, hehe...

Here's my M3 on my Macbook Pro, and my MP in my Macbok Pro. An M8 is probably in my future at some point down the line.

BTW, I snowboarded at Tryvann once a few years back. It was beautiful and the area looked like some kind of Nordic faery tale land complete with horse drawn sleighs.

I am considering buying a Macbook and ditching the PC I have had for countless years now having grown tired of the inexplicable crashes. The question is whether I will be able to use photoshop with the Macbook (Core2Duo 2.0GHz with 2GB of RAM), or whether I will have to splash out on the Macbook Pro 15'' 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo.

I would really appreciate the smaller size of the Macbook, but not if it meant I wouldn't be able to use it as intended -primarily for internet surfing, office applications and the occasional photoshop.

Are there any Leica users out there who manage just fine with a Macbook?

Hi Chris, I'm using the CS3 beta and iView Media Pro on a Macbook and it works just fine.

I chose the Macbook because of it's size and like the machine (I bought the black one). There were some issues originally with the firmware that meant the machine would surn itself off when it came out of hibernation, but they've been solved now.

iMac Graphite

Powerbook 15" 1.67 GHz

Completely agree: Apple and Leica are more than just (Almost) perfect tools. I shared this vision in the Aperture forum some weeks ago, hoping will help working the Leica RAW soon (not so lucky, yet).

I found that the MacBook works just fine. However with only two GB ram you have to be careful. When using Bridge + CS2 and perhaps having a separate raw converter open you can slow the machine down to a crawl. So I now use the MACBOOK for all my field work and have a Macpro desktop with 8gb ram and lots of storage for all my final processing. It is blazingly fast and never hiccups no matter how hard I push it.

I use a pc, Gateway pentium D, 3Ghz (I think), 2gb ram, hi-speed, nvidia video card with 1gb ram, Huey color tool.

However, I also have 2 Mac laptops at home, a Powerbook G4 and a new MacBook, both used by my wife.

When I need a new computer, I plan to get the then equivalent of a MacBook Pro with the windoze software enabled so I can run my existing sw.

tnx,
