zenonzinonos Posted March 21, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have spent the past hour trying to tether my D-Lux4 to a MacBook with Aperture V3.0.1, with no success. Although I have followed the instructions in the Aperture help section, I keep getting a 'No camera detected' message. In the menu on the D-Lux4 I have selected USB, and then tried both PTP and PC but neither seems to do the trick. As usual the instruction manual has been of no assistance - it doesn't mention tethering at all, from what I can see... anyone managed to do this successfully? andybarton Posted March 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2010 If the instruction book doesn't mention tethering, it's probably not supported by the camera.
regedit Posted March 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 22, 2010 use a card reader. it's faster and simple. and you don't need to worry about camera compatibility. beside, when a capera reader it's plugged on your mac automatically opens the import menu in your default photo acquiring app. good luck
zenonzinonos Posted March 22, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted March 22, 2010 use a card reader. it's faster and simple. and you don't need to worry about camera compatibility. beside, when a capera reader it's plugged on your mac automatically opens the import menu in your default photo acquiring app. good luck Thanks for the advice Regedit, but I do already use a card reader for transferring pics to my mac and it works very well. However, the reason I wish to tether my D-Lux4 is so that I can control the camera from the mac, as well as previewing the pics in order to adjust lights, etc on the monitor. I've searched various forums (and Andy has confirmed this) but it seems that this is not possible with either the D-Lux4 or LC1.
andybarton Posted March 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 22, 2010 It's not possible with ANY Leica and a modern Mac...
wattsy Posted March 22, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 22, 2010 It's not possible with ANY Leica and a modern Mac... Presumably you can still tether the M8/M8.2 to a current Mac if you do it via Bootcamp but I appreciate that's only marginally helpful.
Symeon Posted March 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought "tethering" had to do with taking pictures through the computer, not uploading them. Use a card reader for uploading, definitely, you save battery too. regards
zenonzinonos Posted March 29, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted March 29, 2010 "...taking pictures through the computer, not uploading them..." That's precisely what I wish to do, but the experts say that this cannot be done with either of my 2 cameras!
