snaggs Posted March 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings, All my remaining Nikon photo gear has been ton ebay today (F6 and my 5000 ED as well!) to complete my conversion. I'm now a 2-lens M9 user, my shelves and bank balance are all lighter for the experience. Anyone else tried the 75mm lux on M9? That was 2nd lens choice that I made today, it better match up to my 85mm f/1.4 AI-S! Daniel.

jsjxyz Posted March 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2010 Daniel, I am a loyal user of 85 Nikkor both the 1.4 and 2.0 AiS. 75Lux can replace it very well... Check my tag of that lens in my flickr. Flickr: jsjxyz's stuff tagged with 75lux You will love it. The 75 Cron Asph also nice just like the 85mm 2.0. The size is great. Jerry
snaggs Posted March 20, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 20, 2010 Great, I can't wait to try it myself. How many aperture blades does the 75 lux have? Do you use a magnifier with the M9? Daniel.
Danno_photoguy Posted March 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 20, 2010 Daniel, I hope you enjoy your M9. I just got my M9 a few weeks ago and I have been using my 75 lux with it. I find that using the "Steer" (from www.leicagoodies.com) helps with the focus. The only problem is that it is hard to get the lens back into the lens case with it on. I use the 1.25 mag with the 75lux, but I just got a 1.4 mag last night. I pland to try it out today to see how it compares to the 1.25 mag. Per your question, it looks like the 75 lux has 12 blades, but I may have miscounted. All the best Dan
Jamie Roberts Posted March 20, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 20, 2010 The 75 Lux is more than a match for the 85 1.4 Nikkor (which I also really like). If anything, it's sharper wide open
Alnitak Posted March 20, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 20, 2010 As others have pointed out, the 75mm 'lux is a fabulous lens on the M9. Here's a selection of my images taken with the M9 and 75mm 'lux. gravastar Posted March 20, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 75 Summilux iris has 10 blades. Their design is such that the aperture is almost circular for any f stop. It's a beautiful lens on the M9 and probably one of the last I'd ever sell. Bob. MacSpikes Posted March 20, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 20, 2010 I love the M9, but my F6 is here to stay as well ;-)

What is the downside of using the magnifiers? Daniel.
k-hawinkler Posted March 20, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2010 Please let me know how you go with the 1.4 vs 1.25.What is the downside of using the magnifiers? Daniel. Magnifiers narrow the FOV in the viewfinder. For my eyes rangefinder focussing via maximizing of contrast doesn't work with magnifiers. For the 3 methods of rangefinder focusing, please refer to http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/118924-focus-images-slightly-different-angles-cannot.html#post1262754. jaapv Posted March 20, 2010 Share #11 Posted March 20, 2010 Magnifiers lower the contrast and reduce the brightness of the viewfinder, and in some cases, magnify the eye problems of the user. The best way to go about it is to try and find the correct diopter first and to use a magnifier as a last resort.
snaggs Posted March 21, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted March 21, 2010 I need -0.5, does Leica sell these? or where can I buy them. Regards, Daniel.
innerimager Posted March 21, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 21, 2010 I'll chime in with more 75 lux love. Gorgeous portrait lens, great on the M9 though my favorite body for it is a 0.85 mag M7. I prefer it to the Nikon 85/1.4 as well.
