Hey guys,

Loving my X1 but had a quick question. When shooting outside and really sunny I hear this clicking noise like the camera is adjusting to the bright light. Hope that makes sense. Anyone know why the camera does this? I've handled 3 X1's including my current retail and they all do the same thing. Just curious why it does this. Thanks in advance

if you are outdoors: what are your settings? ISO? f stop at A? what T? A or settings? if iso is set high 800+, w/ both t & f at A, then X1 is furiously trying to step down under bright light perhaps...and also what is your AF settings: spot? multi? 1/11 point/H? I don't know cauz I pre set my camera to the lighting conditions even before I power on, a feature which I have been enamoured with since I got my X1.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies and explanation. All the X1's I have used so far have only been on iso 100 f2.8 and 1 point. Hope that helps. I think one of the the previous posters hit the nail on the head. Under really bright conditions the x1 furiously makes a clicking noise to step down. All the d-lux 3.2megapixel cameras from 2003 use to do the same thing. Great camera regardless.

The lens diaphragm is constantly opening up and closing down, depending on the light. I guess this controls the screen brightness. But with on screen manual focus (the enlarged area), which I find useful and accurate, it means that you're sometimes focusing with the lens stopped down. This is another thing that Leica could probably change in the software.
