BillM82 Posted March 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) My last file before sending the whole kit away to Solms for backfocusing issues was L1001263. Now that my M9 is safely back here, I notice that the files are starting with L9996493. Now I doubt they took that many test shots. Any idea what has happened? Should I care? Advertisement Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Hi BillM82, Take a look here Shot number. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mjh Posted March 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2010 They probably used a card for testing where an image file with a higher number was stored, making your camera’s counter jump so subsequent shots would use an even higher number. This means there aren’t that may shots left before you will reach 9999999 and the counter needs to be reset.
BillM82 Posted March 18, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 18, 2010 Ouch!! Does that mean another trip back to Solms?
Leicakillen Posted March 18, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 18, 2010 Got a similar problem - when my M9 got back from Solms it started to count the images from zero again - which migth be a problem - I will get two images with same number. Where can I manage the image counter in the camera??? Can I set the starting number to e.g. 300? /Anders
mjh Posted March 18, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 18, 2010 Ouch!! Does that mean another trip back to Solms? Thankfully there’s a DIY option – check the manual about setting the folder number; that should do the trick.

Copy your last picture from your PC to the card. The camera will now continue with the numbering where it left. Best regards trond
jaapv Posted March 18, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 18, 2010 Shouldn't that be in the DCIM folder?
Guest trond Posted March 18, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 18, 2010 Yes, copy the last image into the DCIM folder of the newly formatted SD card. It is also possible to just rename any picture already in the DCIM folder. The camera will continue the numbering from whatever is the highest count.
