Hello everybody,

I am an happy M9 owner with 28mm f2 lens. (got it 3 days ago, still waiting for 50mm f1.4 and second battery...).

Thanks to all of you, i learned a lot about the M9.

AFTER i installed the new FW, within few pictures i photographed today, there is a magenta colour on the left-top corner similar (i think) to the bug that the FW was supposed to fix.

What do you say?

Thanks,

Tzvia.

Do you mean the colored edges on the branches? Green on one side, purple on the other. That is CA, chromatic abberation, and not uncommon with almost any lens under similar light conditions. Easily corrected in Post-Processing and it has nothing to do with the Red Edge syndrome.

If, what you are questioning is the purplish cast around the branches, then what you are seeing is commonly called fringing. You can try to remove some of it in LR using the defringing button and picking the best option. You can also remove some of it using the chromatic abberation feature in LR for the CA problem seen there. This is not the magenta seen on the left side of M9 photos discussed elsewhere.

No brouhaha and little apoplexy, Tzvia. :)

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

You might also try a different RAW converter, just for grins.

Could be blooming, could be CA; could be less noticeable with a different converter. I had a similar problem with Adobe Photoshop some while back, and when I opened the same file in Capture One, the problem disappeared.

Caveat: Adobe has greatly improved their RAW processing since that time, so trying another product probably won't offer much visible difference.

But as Sander and Rick said, it's definitely not the red edge syndrome. ;)
