alexc Posted March 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) upgraded yesterday, everything went fine and I was shooting all evening without any problems. today in the morning camera froze on me in an unusual (for me ) way. shutter stopped working, red light would not go away. Took the battery ouT and put back in, got the message "no sd card". Did the same thing again, everything went back to normal, however my previous shots were gone. I continued shooting but after 5-7 shots camera froze again. Now it was completely dead only in the viewfinder some red dashes. Took the battery out and in couple times, did not help. Camera did not see the card. Obviously I could not format the card it in camera as well. Other card woks fine. ( for now). I put the old card into the x1 and camera saw it. I formatted it and put it back into M9 again. Now camera saw the card and I was able to reformat it. Now the card works ( i think I will not use it in M9). I never had this type of issues before. Could be a coincidence, but this is what happened. If it is the bug I will not be the only one. BTW the card was not the new one. I have used it for a long time - 4GB SD HC COREMICRO
Advertisement Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Hi alexc, Take a look here one day after new firmware upgrade. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 16, 2010 Yes - but the SD software was changed. I have never even heard of the card brand, and I doubt it is on the "tested by Leica " list.
tategoi Posted March 16, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 16, 2010 Perhaps we should re-format all SD cards with M9 v1.116.
jaapv Posted March 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 16, 2010 Actually I had to reformat my rather mainstream Sandisk Ultra II 16 GB. cards.
arnold kaufman Posted March 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 16, 2010 Yesterday I downloaded the new version Firmware 1.116 & shot about 35 pic. no problem at all. My memory card is SanDisk Ultra 11 HC 8GB I have 3 of the cards which I have been using both in the M-9 & M-8U.Perhaps it is the card you are using . Sorry about your problem, however I am sure you will solve this issue. Arnold
fjmcsu Posted March 16, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 16, 2010 I wonder about the cards being the problem. I have contributed to another thread regarding the no SD card error, which is still not fixed in my case. I tried two cards which on the list and neither work, although the first one worked for a shoot , then refused to work on returning it to the camera. In fact I even went to the dealer today bought a small capacity card that the representative said works on the camera and NO go again.I am wondering whether the contact from the camera SD slot to the main board is not communicating(solder?) ? At any rate if it is a software update issue, I can't solve it, since so far there is no card I can use (tried 6 different types, all OK in M8!!). Meet with the Leica representative tomorrow.
