purduealum91 Posted March 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey gang, The weather today in Hellinois (My loving term for Illinois) is very dreary. I took the X1 to the Morton Arboretum today (Morton Arboretum) to see what I could find. There are no blooming flowers yet, but I did manage to take a few pics. If you would like the shutter speed and aperture of a particular photo, please click on the photo and select the letter i. All photos were shot in DNG and processed in Aperture 3. Advertisement Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Hi purduealum91, Take a look here My Leica X1 Gallery. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michaelbrenner Posted March 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2010 The park bench is my favorite. I'll bet the screen version doesn't do justice to the actual - any chance of a higher-res version?
storybrown Posted March 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 13, 2010 I like all these; lots of PP work -- how'd you find the camera generally?
purduealum91 Posted March 15, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted March 15, 2010 Guy, I'm loving the camera. I have had no issues with the AF speed. I just uploaded some more pics. I received the optional grip the other day. Whereas I felt it was a necessity on my D-Lux 4, I'm not so sure one needs it on the X1. Tom
Guest stnami Posted March 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 15, 2010 I have had no issues with the AF speed Why would as there be a problem as there is no movement in the images taken
purduealum91 Posted March 15, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted March 15, 2010 Stnami, Some are saying the AF of the X1 is too slow. That is what I was referring to. For me, its fine.
EJohnE Posted March 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll make myself into a gross heretic. Most of the photographs taken by anyone with the X1 are no better than I would expect from my long-retired Olympus 3.2mp C740UZ. Just look at them objectively! John. jsrockit Posted March 15, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 15, 2010 Most of the photographs taken by anyone with the X1 are no better than I would expect from my long-retired Olympus 3.2mp C740UZ. At ISO 800-3200 and in large print sizes, I doubt it. People are looking at tiny web images and expecting to see huge improvements. This compact looks great at 3200. You can't say that about many other cameras, much less compact cameras. Plus, why does everyone expect something magical from the X1 with regards to making photos? It will not turn a boring photo into an interesting one. You still need to tell it what to do... Believe me, bad photos from this camera are not the camera's fault. Just as we are being told to look at the X1's quality objectively, I urge others to look the same way without letting the $2000 price tag influence your mind. hard right? Jock you really miss the point it is a problem with the way the camera has been set up it doesn't allow the photographer to produce results in a fluid manner especially in regards to moving subjects and the way AF and manual focusing are set up. The problems are in the camera not the photographer and it is obvious as some guys here who can produce good stuff struggle to reproduce that with the camera. Remember I am writinging in regards to moving subjects not still ones

EJohnE Posted March 18, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 18, 2010 I was not implying that the X1 was no better than a 3.2mp camera. It is just that most photos I had seen did not reflect the quality of manufacture, lens or price of the X1. If any photos with that camera are shown on the forum, would the posters show "X1 images" or something similar in the thread heading. John.
purduealum91 Posted March 19, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted March 19, 2010 I updated my gallery with some interior pics shot at ISO 3200. I'm impressed. No noise reduction software was used. MobileMe Gallery Tom

Fokus Posted March 21, 2010 Share #17 Posted March 21, 2010 Hy Tom, very nice shots. I like the style that you chose. You caught the special atmosphere or mood there in that beautiful landscape. Must be wonderful in that arboretum. It´s also nice to see how you combine B&W shots with color, e.g. that shot with the little brown tree in front of the forest, that´s a good style. SteveYork Posted March 23, 2010 Share #18 Posted March 23, 2010 At least Tom has an internal editor that censors out bad pictures. A few in the gallery are really good. One of the bad things about digital is that it's allowed anybody to throw up anything onto Gore's brainchild, and I get so tired of these galleries of crappy pictures. So I applaud Tom.
