Mark2 Posted March 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just purchased the Leica X1 case. The leather is nice but there is one problem. Whenever I open it, the black shutter cover of my X1 drops out. It looks like there is a design flaw as the hole for the leather case should be bigger. Does anyone have the same problems like me or is it just my case?

damnsharp Posted March 11, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 11, 2010 Hi Mark, I also have the problem. But it depends how I put the lens cap on the X1 and how fast I open the leather case. When the text Leica on the lens cap is vertical than most of the time the lens cap doesn't fall of. I also had in the beginning the problem that the flash pops out but after a week this was over. jsrockit Posted March 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 11, 2010 I heard Leica did this on purpose so that you are ready for that decisive moment the second you get the X1 out of the case.

Mark2 Posted March 11, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted March 11, 2010 what do you need the lenscap for when the camera is in the case? I have thought of not using the lens cap. The problem is that the on/off switch is quite loose. If it turns on in my bag without the lens cap. It will extend itself thereby destroying the camera. With the lens cap, even if you turn it on, it does not extend out. Any better ideas on what I should do?
jsrockit Posted March 11, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The only solutions I can think of, honestly, is to not use the case or just deal with and hope the case loosens up over time.
Dartmaster Posted March 12, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 12, 2010 I heard that a different lense cap might work
damnsharp Posted March 12, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 12, 2010 I think mine is getting more loose. I have less problems than in the beginning.

jsrockit Posted March 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted March 12, 2010 I think not... It will behave as if it has the lens cap on, I suspect. Regards, Bill I agree, I don't think the camera knows it is a lens cap that is obstructing the lens, it just knows something is obstructing the lens. Mark2 Posted March 12, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted March 12, 2010 I just experimented with it by removing the lens cap and putting it in the case. If I push on, the lens extends out regardless of whether there is a piece of leather covering the case or not. I am so afraid of damaging this camera after having waited quite awhile for it

Mark2 Posted March 12, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted March 12, 2010 I am so tempted to use the leather case without the lens cap. It is getting to be quite troublesome having to remove the camera, remove the cap before taking a photo
damnsharp Posted March 14, 2010 Share #15 Posted March 14, 2010 Yesterday I was on a trip to Aachen (made some pictures) and also didn't use the lens cap. I thought the lens was getting too much dirt from the fabric of the case but it was not really the case.

I thought the lens was getting too much dirt from the fabric of the case but it was not really the case. u are now using it without the lens cap? Are you not afraid that u accidentally turn on the on switch while its in the case? Was wondering if that happens would it damage the camera? This camera is just fantastic, shoots well and is very light.

It's in the case But anyway, would it than I guess it's going to act just like when the lens cap is on the X1.
