underground Posted March 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw this strap somewhere on the internet and decided to make one myself instead of buying one. It's a great Idea and I love it. Do any of you have this set up? If so I would like to see what you all think! Take care, Dave

ezc203 Posted March 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 8, 2010 I remember seeing a demonstrative video of such a strap at B&H and thinking it was too risky for my liking. I'm sure its extremely sturdy, but doesn't it tend to swap a lot?
cidereye Posted March 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 8, 2010 Looks like you copied Figital Revolution Stephen Schaub's excellent Y-Strap there. Depends on the materials used to make it but the actual Y-Strap is bomb proof and very secure. I've used mine to carry a Nikon D200, grip + large zoom. Leica R8 and Contax G2 with no troubles at all. it is so discreet in use to and carries the weight very well and is far less fatiguing than a normal type strap for long periods of use. I no longer use it for RF use as I now use his short wrist strap (Wrist Wonder) http://figitalrevolution.com/wristwonder/ on my M8 which is much more suitable for RF cameras I feel and again very secure and you can just let your camera hang from your wrist with complete security or pop it into your bag or pocket in a second. They really are great straps, I should be on commission too!
underground Posted March 8, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted March 8, 2010 The "Y" strap that's the video I saw! His is made much better than mine. My M7 gets pretty heavy around the neck and this strap takes all the weight off the neck, it's awsome. Thanx for your comments! Dave
cidereye Posted March 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2010 A lot of people rave about neoprene straps like the Op/Tech Pro but never found any of them really do what they claim to do in relieving fatigue from neck/shoulders. I bought one for my D200 when I had it and it was no better in my opinion than the standard Nikon strap. I then tried it on my current DSLR the tiny Olympus E-410 and also found it no better, in fact I then tried the standard Leica strap on it and even that was much better than the supposed all singing/dancing Op/Tech! I have quite problematical arthritic problems throughout my body so for me a comfortable strap that bears the load well is essential, for once with the Y-Strap the product actually does what it promises and for stealth purposes it's brilliant as the camera just hangs on your hip out of site or under a jacket. You can wear it all day and feel entirely comfortable.
