elansprint72 Posted March 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can I suggest that we meet at the Piccadilly end of the area; this should help folks arriving by train and I'm fairly sure that parking on the back streets is free on Sundays. Is 10:00 too early? I suggest that we gather on the corner of Ducie Street and London Road, bottom of the station approach (out of the wind, it is a draughty place on the best of days) and wander down Dale Street, taking in the narrow side streets as we go, until we reach the old markets area. There are Bohemian eating and watering holes down that end. We might be lucky and catch the Police Museum on Newton Street open; maybe a photo op with photographers banged-up in the cells? Further show of hands please- so far I have cocker, al-fresco, stunsworth and myself confirmed.

elansprint72 Posted March 11, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted March 11, 2010 Maybe 10:30 would be better?
cocker Posted March 12, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 12, 2010 Agreed - 10.30 is a tad more civilised.
stunsworth Posted March 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted March 12, 2010 Agreed - 10.30 is a tad more civilised. Civilised? Isn't that irrelevant considering the people likely to turn up? 10:30 it is.

al-fresco Posted March 17, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 17, 2010 Just checked train times - to get there before midday on Sunday would require an overnight stay in Chester! According to Google there's a car park on Charles Str which doesn't look too far away - or can anybody recommend a car park in the vicinity? [Edit - doh! Just read the bit about backstreet parking on Sundays.]

There is a car park on Dale Street (operated by TCS) and an NCP on London Road (NCP) all within a few minutes walk from our meeting place.
Xmas Posted March 17, 2010 Share #16 Posted March 17, 2010 Where are you coming from? My first train's ETA is 10:55, but I have a five minute exchange to make at Milton Keynes -. tight for a Sunday service... I need to exchange Mobile # with someone so I can ask which street you will be in in 15 minutes to allow me to formate, I'd not want you to wait, see para above. More normally I'd drive to Wimslow for Sunday meet as no one told me the car parks were free in Manchester. My auto is still in pieces on drive way. al-fresco Posted March 17, 2010 Share #17 Posted March 17, 2010 Where are you coming from? Oswestry Andy - about 1hr 30 mins away by road or 14 hours by rail! Keith - Thanks for the tip - see you Sunday.
Black Posted March 18, 2010 Share #18 Posted March 18, 2010 Would have liked to attend, but I'm tied up (figuratively) at work. If there's another N/W meet soon after, I'd love to attend. Always fancied Liverpool's subway...
