yanidel Posted March 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of my lenses shows a slight front focus on the M9 (the rangefinder is fine). For those who had their lenses calibrated to focus right on their M8/M9, how much did you get charged ? I pondering whether it is worth going through the hassle and cost. thanks. hoppyman Posted March 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2010 Yanidel, I read that you are in Paris, I don't know anything about your dealers there, however I recommend that you work directly with Solms. Even better if you could visit and take your camera and lenses to them directly. As your M9 of course is under guarantee, if you consider that the focus is not calibrated perfectly you could ask for it to be checked? You can ask Customer Service in Solms for an estimate if your lenses need adjustment or servicing? You should receive a quote for the actual work needed (if any) plus any additional work if they found something else when you lens was examined. I have received superb service dealing with Andrea Frankl for enquiries in English. In my case I paid for an upgrade to my M8 and my two lenses were checked and adjusted at no charge under guarantee. . yanidel Posted March 6, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 6, 2010 Hi Hoppyman, I always go through my dealer in Paris, so I'll probably bring him the lens to simplify. As stupid as it seems, I did misadjust the rangefinder of my M9 on purpose to take care of the 35 Lux focus shift and my 60mm back focus. Not conventional, but they work like a charm now So really, I want this lens adjusted and will probably sell it afterwards, so if they fix it for the standard calibration of the M9, it will be fine. thanks for info anyways. "how much did you get charged ?" Rien, nada, nothing For calibrating, I wouldn't go through my dealer. It takes much longer. I would call Solms and they will pick up the lens at your home/office. You'll get it back in 10-15 days. You may need to send also the camera and other lenses because they check everything. Salut
hoppyman Posted March 6, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2010 Yanidel, I hope that you get your lens adjusted to your satisfaction then. I can only mention again that Customer Service are happy to have you deal with them directly if you choose and this is likely to be quicker. You will have the same process, just with dealer handling at start and finish. Personally I would never recommend that anyone alters the adjustments of their M9 for themselves though. All entirely your choice of course. Do let us know how you go with your lens.
