harryliem Posted March 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am getting older, I need compact camera and not to heavy to carry anywhere I go. A man in the mid ages like me need a camera have a good reputation in IQ. I am a street photography since 1975 and being tired to carry DSLR so big and heavy. Now new born is coming the X1, in IQ is very good (Leica the M, IQ) 35 mm and f/2.8 its perfect for street photography. The lens I use the most in anytime and anywhere. Now, I am happy and thank to Leica, that, they make a camera what I need it, the M9 is too heavy for me, both in terms of weight and money too. Here is some photographs that I took last weekend during my visit to Hollywood, attached is my website: Von G Productions gepostete Videos: Street Photography [HD] | Facebook I am not saying the photographs are all excellent, but I am more than happy with the outcome from X1 JEPG. Thank you for reading my sharing, Harry

jsrockit Posted March 4, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2010 Yeah, you cannot dismiss the inspiration a small, simple digital camera with old school controls and a large sensor can give one. A lot of people don't understand it, but it is the camera I've been waiting for as well.

seattlesteve Posted March 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 5, 2010 I'm in complete agreement with you. The X1 hits a sweet spot with a few key ingredients: high quality optics, large sensor and small body were enough for me. Sure there are quirks to be worked out, but for me the PROs far outweigh the CONs.
AlbertoDeRoma Posted March 5, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 5, 2010 I really enjoyed the video. Thank you. About the camera itself ... what can I say ... some of the picture have that wonderful and elusive three-dimensionality that I admire. Dang, another Leica in my wish list is the last thing I need :-). Alberto

inunnguaq Posted March 6, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 6, 2010 I'm in complete agreement with you. The X1 hits a sweet spot with a few key ingredients: high quality optics, large sensor and small body were enough for me. Sure there are quirks to be worked out, but for me the PROs far outweigh the CONs. Totally agree. Great camera, sold my M8 kept the dlux 4 and now this. Not the fastest but I am a bit slow myself so we are a great pair:D Anyway fast enough for me. No compalints, dials are fine and jpegs really crisp. Next month I'll be taking it to 77 degrees North so we'll se how it behaves in lots of light, cold dogsledges and so on. Bringing viewfinder and extra batteries. cheers Inunnguaq

eduardoho Posted March 6, 2010 Share #12 Posted March 6, 2010 I have nothing to say but superlative words for this wonderfully designed piece of engineering masterpiece. It is a gorgeously looking baby, albeit a very capable one, with a nack in the ability to capture superb photos using existing low ambient lighting without strobe assist. Enjoy it, you will be very happy.
