Advertisement Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hi cfc247, Take a look here A place to order the X1's extra battery. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
markpsf Posted March 1, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted March 1, 2010 Most places indicate them as back ordered or not released yet. Â But at the price I'm hoping to hold out for Best Batt releasing their version. I've found their batteries very reliable for many years and often at a savings of more than 50%. cfc247 Posted March 1, 2010 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 1, 2010 Mark, does Best Batt. have a website or is it a local store somewhere?
markpsf Posted March 1, 2010 Share #4  Posted March 1, 2010 BestBatt.com - Leica Digital Batteries  Very good customer service too.  But, I checked with them and they indicate no availability estimate as yet.  Mark

grober Posted March 2, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted March 2, 2010 In the X1 items my Leica dealer received from New Jersey (USA) this week were cameras and leather cases: no viewfinders, grips or extra batteries. Â -g
ptu Posted March 2, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted March 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I would have needed a extra battery with me. I was supposed to go blipping with my friend my my battery was dead. Thus I needed to turn into my N78 with camera. jpmac55 Posted March 10, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for the link Mark! I'll give them a try when the battery becomes available. Â I inquired with best batt about X1 batteries. Here is a quote: Â "Thank you for your message. We are not sure yet but we might have them in about few months."
dfarkas Posted March 10, 2010 Share #9  Posted March 10, 2010 We have the X1 battery in stock:  Leica X1 Battery | Dale Photo & Digital  We also have the hand grip and all three cases. Just missing viewfinders, but those should be coming soon.  David
eduardoho Posted March 11, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted March 11, 2010 good luck (grief)...look at the price. Be patient, in couple of months Chinese will inundate the market with their generic brand suitable for Leica X1..
jsrockit Posted March 11, 2010 Share #11 Â Posted March 11, 2010 I don't know about Chinese ones; it seems they are very temperamental. I used one in my M8 and it just caused problems (battery would die quick, battery life indicator was flakey, wouldn't work in 30 degree weather, etc). I bought the Leica branded one and I've had no issues. To me, that is worth the extra cash.

But given the fact that the one for the X1 may not be available for awhile and that the Leica isn't worth screwing around with/taking a risk , I may go with the Leica one. I just took the plunge and ordered mine from David at Dale labs. Better price than anywhere else offering the OEM right now.

No problems with Best Batt but not comforable with third party batteries coming out in a few months. I ordered a Leica X1 spare battery yesterday from PopFlash although Dale Photo has'em for less.  Who knows, maybe I've just been lucky with third party batteries. eduardoho Posted March 13, 2010 Share #17 Â Posted March 13, 2010 this is really weird...a game Leica is playing? or the accessories are from gray market? I have noticed that web retailers got the accessories for the X1, i.e. ever ready case, system case, leather case, hand grip and spare battery. BUT not the X1 camera! I ordered a spare battery from Adorama of NYC, a retailer affiliated with the Amazon.com today @ USD 100.92, and they had in stock ready for shipment. armanius Posted April 26, 2010 Share #18  Posted April 26, 2010 Personally, I'd stay away from BestBatt.com. Bought two M8 batteries, and neither of them will charge beyond 20%. Customer service emailed stating that they'll replace them AFTER they receive the defective batteries back from me. Good customer service (like Amazon) typically overnights a replacement product immediately when a customer is given a defective product. Good customer service also pays for the return shipping of the defective product, especially after I paid $25 to have the two batteries shipped to me via Fed Ex the first time around.   Most places indicate them as back ordered or not released yet. But at the price I'm hoping to hold out for Best Batt releasing their version. I've found their batteries very reliable for many years and often at a savings of more than 50%.  Mark
