Shot for a wedding last Saturday and brought my M8 and DSLR + grip with massive 2.8 zooms, huge flash, the works. By the middle of the church ceremony, I gave my DSLR stuff to my assistant and shot exclusively with the M8 all the way to the end of the reception with one lens. I just couldn't handle the weight and bulk of my DSLR system, plus the M8 gave much more beautiful shots (to my eyes). Sorry for the sidetrack... again, welcome and enjoy! Logic108 Posted March 1, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 1, 2010 I did pretty much the same as you and have been very happy. My lens choices were 24mm Elmarit, 50mm Summilux asph and 15mm CV. As a wedding photographer and fairly new M8 user, I would be fascinated to know which lens. Used a 75mm for a couple of shots, but felt more at ease with the 50mm (just right for discreet shooting at a fairly comfortable distance YMMV). I had a second shooter by the way, so he handled the wide and tele stuff, as well as shots needing flash (though I tried using flash with the M8, but it just didn't seem right). I became the "documentarist," shooting from the sidelines, waiting for special moments to happen, and it was fun You can't forego your DSLR stuff for weddings though, especially the pre-ceremony shots where macro is needed (arrheas, shoes, suit and tie, bible, etc. shots). But once the ceremony starts, you can have your second shooter shoot the DSLR-only shots, while you go about with the M8 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It only appears when I shoot at the light source Also I heard somewhere that you can choose the lens manually on the camera. How do you do that? cuz it seems I couldnt find it in the menu. But its still agrrrrr That sounds like a stuck pixel. It is not a big problem, as Leica will solve it for you, possibly by remapping the sensor. pattypatty2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Share #19 Posted March 6, 2010 I commend Leica for developing the M8 for the enjoyment of the small but loyal rangefinder community. The only thing I will say about SLR vs rangefinder is that what the rangefinder can do what it does exceptionally well. But the photographic community has recognized SLR's are far more flexible and I suspect every M8 owner has an SLR for what the rangefinder doesn't do.
