exile Posted February 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know the adapter was designed for the 90 elmar, but has anyone tried it on any other lenses? My understanding is that it is basically an extension tube and viewfinder correction "goggles" integrated into a single accessory. Of course, the extension tubes would work with any lens, just giving different levels of magnification. Rangefinder coupling should still be transmitted from the lens to the camera, but will the focus still be accurate with any 90mm (or even 75mm lens)? Another hard question is whether the fiewfinder correction will still enable accurate framing with other 90mm lenses? Of course, viewfinder framelines are never 100% precise, especially at these kind of distances, so I could live with approximate framelines as long as the focus was correct at close-up distances. So, can anyone comment on the close-up focus accuracy of the Macro adapter used in conjunction with any other 75mm, 85mm, or 90mm lens? (If anyone wants to question my motivation to do this, the answer is simple - I would like to use a faster lens than the 90 elmar but still have at least some close-up capability using the adaptor when I want it.) Another crazy question from the person always looking to re-invent perfectly good systems...
Advertisement Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Hi exile, Take a look here anyone use the macro adapter "eyes" for any lenses other then the 90 elmar?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
yanidel Posted February 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2010 It won't work as the 90mm ME lens locks in from the left of the adapter and has two different dof scales and minimum focus distances.
exile Posted February 24, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 24, 2010 I don't understand. The DOF scales are irrelevant to focus accuracy using the rangefinder focus mechanism. And the lens attaching from the left on the adapter... can other lenses not do this also? Of course, they would be upside down, but I would not be looking at their distance / DOF scales anyway because you just can't zone focus at those distances with any accuracy. I'm just curious to hear if anyone has actually tried it physically.
