Shadow Blaster Posted February 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll be in London toward the end of March and am in the market for a new 90mm Summicron for my M7. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations as to Leica shops I could go to. Thanks in advance. John S.

andybarton Posted February 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2010 Red Dot are one of our sponsors, are open all week and every other Saturday (check their website) and have very good stocks of available product. They are highly recommended. http://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/

scc Posted February 21, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2010 Go to the official Leica store in Mayfair, just for a look, they will not be the cheapest, but its a lovely shop. Red Dot is also great.

bill Posted February 21, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 21, 2010 Nooo... anywhere BUT Classic Camera... They are no longer an authorised Leica dealer, although they still like to give that impression. Do a search here for other views - don't just take my word for it. Red Dot, great, RG Lewis, fine. But avoid CC. Regards, Bill

scc Posted February 22, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 22, 2010 I have read bad things about the Classic Camera, but it is a great shop to visit, they have a great range or Zeiss and Leica lenses, and plenty of good accessories including a fairly full range of A&A stuff. Perhaps if you are buying a new Leica lens then its not the best spot, given its not an authorised dealer, but it IS worth taking a look at / browsing, especially if you are in the area. Its not far from RG Lewis. And of course there is the wonderful British National Museum almost right next door to it... S
Pangur Ban Posted February 22, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 22, 2010 I've had some very recent dealings (ie January 2010) with Classic Camera for secondhand items and was very impressed. They may have the best stocks of new Zeiss and Voigtlander in London - including the 667 when I was there - and have extensive Leica stocks. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and were very efficient in resolving a major issue I had with my M8 that I bought from them, as well as rapidly selling my M7 which had previously remained unsold at another dealer for several months. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations as to Leica shops I could go to. Thanks in advance. John S. Ivor at Red Dot tells me there are shortages of most Leica lenses right now. If you're looking for something specific it might be best to phone in advance of going.
