Advertisement Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Hi Åmund, Take a look here Visiting Solms. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted February 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2010 Hi there you certainly may visit both the factory and the customer service areas (two separate facilities) at Solms. I understand that you should contact them prior to your arrival to make sure that the date is suitable (for example not a local holiday) and perhaps a tour may be organised, if appropriate. Here is the link with information for you. Leica Camera AG - Leica Plant Germany I definitely recommend that the tour is worthwhile and of course the nice customer service folks or the Leica shop would be happy to help you out also. Ivar B Posted February 16, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 16, 2010 As Geoff is saying, it is well worth a visit. We were actually there at the same time last year!
leicapages Posted February 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 16, 2010 Highly recommended indeed. Did a factory tour as part of a Leica Academy course years ago. The report is on my web pages. Pascal
hector_jorge Posted February 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 16, 2010 I visited Leica factory last year. Very interesting and instructive, and you can see there the Leica Museum too.Not all the pieces of the Museum are on display, but only a part of the whole Leica collection. Very nice people, but remember to ask them in advance for your visit. Not forget to visit the Wetzlar city near Solms, where you can take many pictures of the nice old buildings. Some of them are the same that Barnak use as motivs for the first Ur Leica pictures. Have a nice trip!
dicko101 Posted February 17, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 17, 2010 I trotted out there in September alas not for a tour. Hell, the foyer's well worth it and the staff were kind enough to give me half-a-dozen back issues of LFI in English along with a plethora of brochures and other goodies. Just leave a few days either side in case they're not running the tour on the given day you're planning on going out.
LUF Admin Posted February 17, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Åmund, if you are planning a visit (and this is a good idea...) you should contact Leica in advance to make sure the plant is open and a guide is available - especially if you wish an English tour. Best regards from Bonn Andreas
