damnsharp Posted February 16, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 16, 2010 You can see what a marvelous camera the X1 is with evening shots! I assume Stewart you've made all images without an tripod? Oh, off-topic: do you have the manual for the X1 as PDF? On the Leica site it's not available.

Stewart Weir Posted February 16, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted February 16, 2010 Image stabilisation maybe? Apologies .. i meant Electronic Image Stabiliser.. I assume Stewart you've made all images without an tripod?Oh, off-topic: do you have the manual for the X1 as PDF? On the Leica site it's not available. No tripod.. all handheld. Like the film M cameras with practise its very possible to take sharp images down to 1/15 sec. With the stabiliser on the X1 takes 2 images then puts them together. It works when the object is static .. less so when anything is moving. I answered above regardsthe manual.. Ive been working the camera out without one. Thanks

damnsharp Posted February 16, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 16, 2010 Thanks David, not a specific question but for the time being, because I am still waiting on the X1, it is nice to read the manual It wonders me that on the official Leica site the manual isn't to be downloaded. wda Posted February 16, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 16, 2010 Damnsharp, yes, I agree with you. The pdf should be available once the initial delivery panic has subsided.
Dan States Posted February 16, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 16, 2010 Apologies .. i meant Electronic Image Stabiliser.. I dont have any instructions with the camera as i have been using a pre production model. Once again these are the best images to date posted from the X1 and further proof of the potential of the camera. Great job.
NZDavid Posted February 17, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 17, 2010 I'm puzzled. Previous posts said the X1 would be incapable of street photography due to slow AF yet these all look great to me!
Stewart Weir Posted February 17, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted February 17, 2010 I'm puzzled. Previous posts said the X1 would be incapable of street photography due to slow AF yet these all look great to me! The X1 is more than capable of street shots and even at night. But .. familiarity with the camera is essential and this is where in my opinion some reviews have concluded the autofocus problem. Speed of autofocus is sometimes slow yes. Sometimes it doesnt get a fix yes. But really its a question of knowing what to get a focus fix on. Ive recently used a `Canon 5Dkm2 and i would say thats not a lot faster than the X1. All of this is subjective as we all have our own opinions of what is fast and what isnt. For the night shots i turned the focus assist off. Its a red light that shines out like a beacon saying 'here i am'. I believe the focus assist is only of value for short distances in near dark anyway. I have not had the chance to shoot with the viewfinder yet and must say im looking forward to using it. Shooting eye to camera will enable even steadier shooting.
