marknorton Posted December 14, 2006 Share #21 Posted December 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mark - You know this to be a fact? If so, please publish why you know it is a fact. Chris, I have an email from Leica UKs MD, David Bell, saying this: "Meanwhile, could I ask you to register your two M8s on www.leica-camera.us/photography/m_system/m8/ This will ensure that, ...., you qualify for factory reworks, filter vouchers and the 30% lens deal (plus you receive a letter detailing the process)." My view therefore is that anyone with a camera should register it; if you have not received your camera, the only way you can register a purchase is by paying for it in advance by 31 December. For anyone on a list, committed to buying the camera, it makes sense to pay for it in advance. Clearly, if you are not going to receive the camera for 6 months and are funding the purchase on credit, the case weakens. From my perspective, the opportunity to save about £650 by buying a WATE (assuming they sort it out) will offset the cost of the additional filters I need. Advertisement Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi marknorton, Take a look here 30% Discount is True Per My Dealer . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ok, since some () of you probably are a bit rusty in Norwegian I'll translate it: "Anyone that have received an M8 or paid for it in full by December 31st 2006 will receive an offer to purchase one lens with a 30% discount on German suggested retail price. The offer is valid to June 30th 2007. Payment to and deivery of the lens is handled by Leica in Germany." This, at least, should be how it is handled in Europe. For the US and Aspac areas I don't know. - Carl
marknorton Posted December 14, 2006 Share #23 Posted December 14, 2006 As we say in English, they do appear to be all singing from the same hymn sheet... First time I've heard the 6 month deadline.
egibaud Posted December 14, 2006 Share #24 Posted December 14, 2006 My dealer said similar information regarding the fact that discount should be dealt directly with Leica... but the difference is that he was told that the offer was ONLY for pre-fixed cameras not for the new ones that are being shipped now. Maybe policy for Europe (Spain) is different.
ChrisC Posted December 14, 2006 Share #25 Posted December 14, 2006 '.....have an email from Leica UKs MD, David Bell....' Mark - Thank you for replying, I will get back to my dealer today and see what is possible. ..............Chris
hammam Posted December 14, 2006 Share #26 Posted December 14, 2006 That Leica Camera AG keep this confusion going on without clarifying the issue with dealers and buyers all over the world once and for all is, in my view, inadmissible. Not a day passes without some contradictory but legitimate statement being produced. For me this is going the way Nikon went: I like their cameras, I hate the company. We know they surely monitor these forums, at least this one, so maybe they just don't care.
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 14, 2006 Share #27 Posted December 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think your fogetting this info was sent to the dealers and they leaked it out . What I believe was supposed to happen was when they call you it would be offered by Leica AG and not the dealers. But i am speculating also , have no firm knowledge of any of this.
