larbel Posted February 14, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted February 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) When X1 was first announced, the dials were matching titan color with the top panel and the lugs were located more forward than where they're now. I have no complain about the lugs since the camera right now is very balanced on the shoulder strap. But I do like the matching titan color dials better, wonder what made them change the colors.. Also, anyone one know what the 7 digits number on the lens meant? Â Â ?
Advertisement Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Hi larbel, Take a look here X1 prototype vs production model. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
janmartm Posted February 14, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted February 14, 2010 The 7 digits on the front of the lense is the serial number. Took me a while to figure this out when I registered my X1 at the Leica website...

warnica Posted February 14, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted February 14, 2010 Are the dials tightened down on the production model from the prototypes?

Also, anyone one know what the 7 digits number on the lens meant?  Maybe they wanted the X1 to look like the Steel grey M9 perhaps? Doesn't the steel grey M9 have dials that are silver on top and the rest of the camera in titan/grey?

However, apart from aesthetics, there is no doubt in my mind that the engraved numbers are much clearer and easier to read on the lighter coloured dials compared with the markings on the steel grey top plate. So I would not complain about the slight colour mis-match.
