wildlightphoto Posted February 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Eurasian Wigeon is a rare but regular winter visitor to the east and west coasts of North America. As its name implies, it's primarily a Eurasian bird. This particular duck has been wintering at Sailor Bar county park, Sacramento county, possibly the first known record for this species along the American River parkway technical stuff: R8/DMR, 560mm f/6.8 Telyt, shoulder stock & monopod. andybarton Posted February 15, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2010 Can I comment too? We get to see plenty of Widgeon over here, funnily enough, if we go to the right place at the right time. We don't get to take shots like this though. My wife saw owls (barn and short-eared) and hen harriers on her walk with the terrier this afternoon. We also get peregrines hunting on the marsh at the end of the road.
psquared Posted February 16, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Excellent. I haven't seen one down this way. They're even rarer down here. Plenty of American wigeons, though.
