The Eurasian Wigeon is a rare but regular winter visitor to the east and west coasts of North America. As its name implies, it's primarily a Eurasian bird.

This particular duck has been wintering at Sailor Bar county park, Sacramento county, possibly the first known record for this species along the American River parkway

Can I comment too?

We get to see plenty of Widgeon over here, funnily enough, if we go to the right place at the right time.

We don't get to take shots like this though.

My wife saw owls (barn and short-eared) and hen harriers on her walk with the terrier this afternoon. We also get peregrines hunting on the marsh at the end of the road.
