magnolio Posted April 27, 2010 Share #21 Posted April 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finally got myself a copy of Adobe Lightroom 2. Ive been using Aperture up until now. Must say its a stunning peice of software and really very simple to pick up quickly. Ive done some messing around with some X1 images, Questions or comments welcome. Stewart Weir Hi Stewart. Just wanted to say I appreciate your pictures very much. Don't know very much about softwares, but have to admit they are an important part of what is (imho) a GOOD photograph. Read with great interest your review of X1 (in "Radar"). Must say it helped me to decide and wanting to buy the X1. Which seems "mission impossible" at the moment...Have to cross fingers ha ha ha. Cheers, magnolio

phancj Posted April 28, 2010 Share #22 Posted April 28, 2010 Hi all, Dunno if it is just me, but I got LR2 when I bought the X1, but after raw conversion I seem to find that certain tonal ranges are must more "coarse" than even the jpegs, particularly in red color I notice. Details seems somehow lost for the "in-between" tones in many instances for red I observed casually. Bear in mind I am no expert photographer just a recreation shooter....so that is my humble observation but I have spoken to friends who also experienced the same..workflow aside (which is impeccable for LR) some seem to suggest phase one or silkypix is better for image quality...I even tried rawker on my mac and for all its clunkiness and lack of friendly UI (freeware) the default result was better than LR!!?? So much I would like to use LR since I now have a copy with my X1, I cant seem to harness it...
