Jark89 Posted February 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) So today I noticed a fairly large sized piece of, what appears to be dust, inside the focusing patch window. I'm guessing that while blowing dust off of the sensor, one piece of dust must've gotten blown around inside the chamber. I checked the patch, and nothing seems to be wrong. So I guess I should be OK? Can this be CLA'd by 3rd party repair centers (eg. DAG, Nippon Photo, etc.)? Anyone else encounter this? Thanks in advance! marknorton Posted February 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2010 Is the dust just on the inside of the small window on the front of the top plate. If you cannot see any effect on the (moving) rangefinder image, I would leave it be. Otherwise you can remove the top plate and blow it away but there's aways a risk of getting more dust in there and/or fingerprints on the inside of the other windows. 7 screws to remove it, 5 using a Phillips P000, 2 a long Phillips P00 plus a flex print connector. Jark89 Posted February 12, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 12, 2010 Thanks for the replies everyone. Since its not showing up in the focusing patch, I'll just leave it be for now. Its good news that it seems to be a simple process that 3rd party repair centers can take care of though! Again, thanks for the help!
sfokevin Posted February 13, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2010 A simple hand held vibrating device (If you have or can borrow one) could dislodge the dust particle...
