larbel Posted February 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got my X1 today and not wanting to scratch the lugs, I didn't attached the supplied shoulder strap... I'm REALLY in need of the wrist strap and case now but looks like they're even harder to locate than the X1 itself. Has anyone gotten any accessories for the X1 yet? I do see some auction claims to have them in stock but not sure how true their statements are... Any idea if any online store has them in stock now?? andym911 Posted February 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2010 no I don't have any accessories and am not really missing anything...the strap is good for me..I just attach it to one side of the camera.....and am using an old SBLOO viewfinder. I know many who prefer a wriststrap so good luck in your search.. regards andy

Hythe Posted February 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2010 I just spoke to Leica Store in London and they say they have nothing to tell me about when L accessories will ship. Could be a month or more he said.

TEBnewyork Posted February 24, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 24, 2010 I have an X1 on loan from Leica right now. It came with the system case. It is beautifully made. The bag can fit more than just the X1 and if I were to use it cell phone and wallet would be thrown in. I also have the wrist strap, viewfinder, and handgrip. All were boxed in regular silver Leica boxes so they aren't exactly vaporware and I would guess would have already had a production run.
damnsharp Posted February 24, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 24, 2010 I've read it somewhere on this forum but indeed the leather case is very, very nice but the X1 doesn't fit with the leather neck strap attached But worse, it is so tight that the flash gets pressed, so it pops out everytime you take the camera out of the bag. What a shame. Maybe it gets more loosly but then the problem with the nice leather neck strap is still there. Strange that Leica didn't think this over. damnsharp Posted February 24, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 24, 2010 Oh, I send a mail to Leica to ask if they have a solution and why they didn't think this over.
Clandrel Posted February 24, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 24, 2010 I just ordered a VF, a systemcase and extra battery from Meister Camera Berlin. Everything in stock.
damnsharp Posted February 25, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 25, 2010 Leica answered me today with a friendly and detailed mail. I understand it better now. Quote: "As for the leather cases we tried to find a solution for the various kind of usage and requirement. Therefore we launched three different kind of cases, the dark brown leather case, the titanium coloured ever-ready leather case and a system case where you can store not only the camera but also some accessories like viewfinder,2nd battery, 2nd SD-card for instance. The camera has to fit in each leather case perfectly. The cases are designed and built for that purpose. To reserve more space in the bag would risk that the camera moves too lose in the bag. That might be the reason why the effect you have described in your mail might happen. For the brown case we would recommend to use the hand strap that is also available for the X1. For the ever-ready case (hope you have seen this wonderful one as well) the shoulder strap would be the optimal solution, because you have the camera + case ever-ready around your neck." And I must say, today the flash didn't pop out I guess due to that I take the camera out with more caution and maybe because it's getting a little more loose. Too bad today I had more problems with the lens cap which fall of the camera. Now I am going to look which hand strap is the best for me, I want a brown leather one and I think of a Gordy camera strap (http://www.electricedge.com/gordy_s_straps/index.htm)
seattlesteve Posted February 26, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 26, 2010 The leather case is very nice indeed. The fit does feel a little too tight, but not so much to pop up the flash. The one issue I do have with the case is that the lenscap often pops off when I open the case. It would be nice if there was a little more clearance around the lens/lenscap. Other than that it is a beautiful, well made case.
damnsharp Posted February 27, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 27, 2010 Yes Steve, I also have the lenscap problem. When I open the case carefully there is no problem. The leather is very nice so I love the case. Maybe there is a solution to think about, with a small elastic band and somehow attached to the lenscap. I am not sure how to make this and also look nice. Have to think about it.
