meatboy Posted February 18, 2010 Share #21 Posted February 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do you really think people do that? I admit it's not something I'd ever considered - and yes, I realise I have quite a large number of posts myself. Steve, I think its 'likely' that some people do it - I suspect its done to give them credibility. Andreas suggested its 'an indicator to who is active' but that does not mean they are active and useful posts - its just that I sometimes see no other reason for some posts except to get the counter up. IMHO I have always found your posts a contribution.
Advertisement Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Hi meatboy, Take a look here Forum Survey Results. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
azzo Posted February 20, 2010 Share #22 Posted February 20, 2010 I had tried to give my contribution on this above mentioned Survey but for some reason, half way through it, something was wrong and couldn't continue. I repeated the Survey at least three times but to no avail.
earleygallery Posted February 20, 2010 Share #23 Posted February 20, 2010 The way I see it, WE are the forum so if people want more information, more photos, better manners etc., WE have to make it happen. It's no good just saying you want this or that, help to make it happen. Personally I wouldn't say anything on the forum that I wouldn't say to someone if they were there in person, I think that's a simple and effective code of conduct - I enjoy a good debate or argument at the same time, and we don't want to discourage lively debate from the forum. It would be nice if the forum was more focussed on photography rather than the kind of pedantic threads we get about the colour of this or that accessory, minor technicalities and constant analysis of Leicas business plans, mostly based on assumption and rumour. Interesting about the German forum - I wish I could read it! I do look at their photos though. Adreas - I'm happy to assist with the forum too, if I can help. azzo Posted February 21, 2010 Share #24 Posted February 21, 2010 How about deducting one for each post over 33,000 ? How about listing the number of images posted ? .... or threads started ? How about a Snapshot Warning triangle applied by viewers ? How about someone defining the word 'snapshot', ... or better still, someone telling us the difference between a snap and a crap shot ! The way I see it, many see it ( snap/crap) in different views/opinions. For me, a snap is not a crap shot !!!

Bo_Lorentzen Posted February 23, 2010 Share #27 Posted February 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It could be fun yet scarry to have the ability to rate contributors on camera-technical / photo-technical / artistic / philosophy. Then since I don't agree with the idea of a auto-smile detect in the M11 clearly I would get a bright red star on camera technical knowledge. he he. but at least others would be warned. Seriously I do appreciate this forum, and there are some great contributors whom I try to read everything they have to say, but I think flagging them would be counter productive towards the end of welcoming new users to the forum. .
