c6gowin Posted March 2, 2010 Share #101 Â Posted March 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) David, Australia got a lot more than that! I'm told that the entire shipment has now sold out though. One of them has actually appeared on eBay here. I played with one (and the S2) here on Friday over beers. Fortunately DoF has at least reduced the impact of the unattractive object supporting the cameras.I kept trying to put it up to my eye, but I was very impressed with the handling and the dozen or so casual shots I took. Â That is a great smile. Of course you have good reason to be smiling - your holding an X1 and S2 plus you got to check them out while having beers. grober Posted March 2, 2010 Share #104 Â Posted March 2, 2010 Quote from my Leica dealer today (2 March 2010): Â "Yeah, we got a lot of Leica product this week -- S2s, X1s, M9s -- but we could use more." Â 1st Lesson: authorized Leica dealers are working overtime to ship product to their assembled waiting lists. They're happy to be making money on now-ancient pre-orders. 2nd Lesson: add 90 days to any estimated ship date given by Leica on new product announcement days. Â My X1 is shipping today; if the UPS air freighter can make it over the Rocky mountains, I should have the lil' beastie by Thursday afternoon. stkorn Posted March 3, 2010 Share #108 Â Posted March 3, 2010 No new deliveries today? Â I did receive my X1 from B&H today. My initial impression is very favorable. The size, the user interface, the high ISO performance are all exactly what I've been wanting in a digital camera for years. The AF speed is not a problem for me, not noticeably slower than the EP-2. However, I did experience more failures to focus in low-light with the X1 than with the EP-2. Some of these seemed to be solved by switching from AF to AF-macro but still its somewhat annoying. But to me the main thing is how the camera feels - i never connected with the EP-2 despite its good image quality and many advantages. It was always a bit too cluttered with icons and i realized i hate zooms altogether, and so its off to a new home. The X1 feels immediately comfortable and familiar, there is really not even a need for a manual. I'll post up a more complete review and pics after i get to spend some more time using it. dkCambridgeshire Posted March 3, 2010 Share #109  Posted March 3, 2010 There's an X1 listed for sale in Leica Camera Forum 'Buy and Sell' section. I have no connection with the seller but know a few of you are eager to find one.  Cheers  dunk

markpsf Posted March 4, 2010 Share #111 Â Posted March 4, 2010 Sold all my Nikon gear. Sold my "extra" micro four thirds camera (GF 1...kept the GH1) ...Sold my M8.2 (recent purchase mint that led me to fall in love with Leica). Bought the X1 and M9 (I'm getting old and you only live once) from Leica Shop in Vienna a week ago. They shipped on Monday and arrived today. Total cost $8200 with shipping. Â I do have a day job so it will be some time before I take them out for play but just handling the M9 while the battery was charging was fun. and, oh yeh, it's the all black one. The X1 is so small and feels great though I will still want the grip. Â I won't be putting up photos though until I feel real comfortable with it. I prefer only sharing shots with others that I really like and I'm fairly demanding of myself.... Â The bottom line tho is that I'm excited...like a kid getting my first Voigtlander many years ago. jsrockit Posted March 4, 2010 Share #116 Â Posted March 4, 2010 I called all around the USA today and couldn't find the X1. I was thinking there might be some weird store that didn't have a pre-sale list, but it appears that the lesser name stores just didn't get stock at all.
