Advertisement Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Hi jsrockit, Take a look here USA and X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pappde Posted February 13, 2010 Share #42 Â Posted February 13, 2010 In Asia, Hong Kong to be exact, I was told the first batch here was only 5 units! I reserved one back in Dec at 3 or 4 different dealers, none called. Just happened I read online somewhere that a shop in Austria has stock a week ago, so I went ahead and order, 4 days later, I'm a proud owner of the X1 The price I paid including shipping were actually quite a bit lower than if I would buy it locally from the dealer as well. Yup. That is one way to beat the US delay. Leica Shop in Vienna. The X1 is for 1299Euro that is about 1700USD plus shipping and customs if any. As pr UPS tracking mine is already in Newark. Will come my way on Monday. With total costs I am at least $150 and a few days ahead. Sorry guys!
barjohn Posted February 13, 2010 Share #43  Posted February 13, 2010 As the Euro goes into collapse, ordering from Europe may be the smart move. dkCambridgeshire Posted February 14, 2010 Share #47  Posted February 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) All this talk about 'free cases' is not quite correct. Everyone who took advantage of Leica's original 'X1 worldwide pre-order offer ' http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-x1-forum/104313-heads-up-pre-order-special-offer.html has been offered a complimentary case by Leica as a reward for their patience because the proposed 'by Christmas' delivery date was not met.  But the cases are not available yet.  Cheers  dunk

jsrockit Posted February 17, 2010 Share #59 Â Posted February 17, 2010 What is the trouble with your M8 js? Â There is a small crease in my shutter which makes a mark on any photo shot at 1/1000th or faster. It appears there is a few examples, all in the same spot on the M8's shutter, around the internet and this site when it comes to the M8. It appears to be a Leica issue i.e. those with the issue swear they did nothing to cause it. Mine's not under warranty, buy I love my M8 enough to send it for repair. Would like to have the X1 before I send the M8 into Leica.

(The noisy shutter from my M8 was the primary reason I sold it . . . still waiting for my X1.)  -g
