Hm... in the Netherlands (also Europe) the X1 is very difficult to buy. I didn't got a chance for it yet. For the US of A I thought: leica x1

bap Posted February 9, 2010 Author Share #4 Â Posted February 9, 2010 this may come as a shock to you but some of us Americans (not all) know where The Netherlands are and I know it's not easy to get but not impossible here it's impossible
Dan States Posted February 9, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted February 9, 2010 The Netherlands is next to the Hinterlands. Â Seriously, the USA market is getting screwed. No shipments and no "I'm Sorry" leather case. Total BS.
NZDavid Posted February 10, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted February 10, 2010 As for New Zealand, maybe the end of the month...nobody knows. I think about six people have them so far worldwide. Free leather case? Forget it. Preferential treatment for Euro customers by the look of it!
h00ligan Posted February 10, 2010 Share #7  Posted February 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Netherlands is next to the Hinterlands. Seriously, the USA market is getting screwed. No shipments and no "I'm Sorry" leather case. Total BS.  AGREED! If they had made any effort whatsoever I would have probably at least given the camera a chance - but I wasn't about to be treated like a redheaded step child and pay 2k for the privilege(without probably needed addons).  At the end of the day, there are so many reasons not to buy this camera, it soured me.. which sucks because I was really hoping it would be the cam to end my search. markpsf Posted February 10, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted February 10, 2010 Or one could look at it optimistically....as I TRY to do despite my inherent impatience. Â Maybe by the time it's my turn on the list there'll already be new firmware and enough great photographers with directions on how to bring out the best in the camera that it will be worth the wait. Â And hey, don't most of us have another camera to become even more adept with in the meantime? Â Mark
nigelb Posted February 10, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted February 10, 2010 Don't people in the US realise that they usually get new products way before we get them in Europe. Leica is a European product, and the tables have been turned this time, so what?. Its ridiculous to say that Leica is screwing the US market. Leica is a niche product and a small company manufacturing in small numbers - you wouldn't buy one if they were being built by the million in the far east. bad robot Posted February 10, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted February 10, 2010 I live in England, I'm still waiting.

Apple always sells to the US first, then elsewhere. Nintendo sells to Japan first, and then elsewhere. Why wouldn't Leica sell locally first and then spread out from there... makes sense to me and I'll just patiently wait for my X1 in the US. It's no big deal. Did they think we wouldn't notice? I know we are considered pretty dumb by many but some of us CAN read and even have access to this here "interweb" thingy.  Seems like they landed cameras in areas of the world that dominate this forum to quiet the whining about delays. England seems to have quite a few....and unless I'm missing the math badly the most active postings in this forum are from English users. Whatever, as long as Seal and Eric Clapton have theirs I can be happy:confused:
Don Helmudo Posted February 10, 2010 Share #13  Posted February 10, 2010 I´ll receive mine tomorrow (Germany) with no free case. Did you really think everybody outside the US would get a free case? What a strange thing to think
jsrockit Posted February 10, 2010 Share #14 Â Posted February 10, 2010 Perhaps Leica promised the X1 to European phot shops early than they did to US photo shops?
stkorn Posted February 10, 2010 Share #15 Â Posted February 10, 2010 And now it's come to this...whining about not getting a free camera case. Well, at least it's a break from complaining about AF speed

So it looks like a few free cases were promised in the UK (not just England) maybe thats because Leica are more on top with customer care than Leica US. Vent at them. diogenis Posted February 10, 2010 Share #18 Â Posted February 10, 2010 Buy a god damn leather case ... jeez you are willing to pay $2000 for a compact. At least buy a decent case!
grober Posted February 10, 2010 Share #19 Â Posted February 10, 2010 I suspect the snowstorm today in New York and New Jersey is not helping matters at all.
