Enough X1 owners to have an X1 Challenge?

Ah, come on all... those who do own it could just start posting their favorite pic in this thread... that would be cool. I mean, looking at noise at 3200 is cool at times, but I'd rather look at good / great photos.

New cameras seem to be delivered every day, but still in small numbers. Hopefully the coming few weeks will change the situation. Maybe picture posting time for the first X1 Challenge could be the first or second week of March?

 

Here are a set of rules edited from the D-Lux challenge rules. I'm new on the forum and I don't know where these rules has come from but they seem OK to me. Would anyone want to change something?

 

Introduction:

 

The X1 Challenge is an occasional competition on the Leica User Forum to celebrate and encourage use of the Leica X1.

 

This is a test of the skill of photographers worldwide using the same basic camera and getting the best from it. It is open to all Leica User Forum members who own or have use of a Leica X1.

 

Shooting theme and period:

 

In order to participate you should shoot no more than 36 exposures (on a trust basis) using a Leica X1 camera, in line with a notified theme within a defined seven to fourteen day period (set by the person setting the theme).

 

Post processing:

 

All images entered must adhere to Leica User Forum posting rules on dimensions and file size.

 

Participants are encouraged to pre-visualise and preset their cameras and enter an image with the minimum of post processing. Extensive post processing (beyond levels and sharpening) is not within the spirit of the competition. It is not banned, but should be declared at time of posting. Ultimately, the best photographer should win, not the most adept post processor.

 

Entering your image:

 

Select your shot that in your view best matches the theme and post it onto a single thread set up for the purpose by the organiser.

 

Please give it a title.

 

The thread will be open for postings ONLY but NOT for voting until a declared date to allow all entries to be posted before voting starts. Your entries are not anonymous - feel free to include a short description of/explanation of your image.

 

Voting:

 

Voting will then be opened. Votes may then be cast on the following basis:

 

Three points for best, two points for second and one point for third, in the format:

 

"Image XXXX - 3 points

Image YYYY - 2 points

Image ZZZZ - 1 point"

 

You MUST cast three votes in total - one or two votes will be regarded as a "spoiled ballot" and not counted in the overall total.

 

Voting runs for two weeks. One vote per member, no voting for your own image.

 

The winner gets the right to set the theme for the next X1 Challenge.

How about, My Neighborhood? Any subject or scene no more than a 1km walk from member's domicile. Nothing seasonal, please, like spring...leaves are turning golden and winter is approaching on this side of the planet.

If you want an X1 Challenge, someone just has to ask Andreas for a sub-section in the Challenge section of the Forum, and someone needs to be responsible for running it.

I wrote them, originally for the One Challenge. Then amended and edited them for the Barnack Challenge, then amended and edited them for the D-Lux Challenge...

 

Good to see you boys getting into the swing, and no, JSRockit, it doesn't just involve posting willy-nilly into this thread. Keep up at the back there, do.

 

Oh, and whoever decides to take on the running, drop me a PM and you can have the score-sheet too
