fishblimp Posted February 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I tried to post an ad. I entered the correct category for my listing in Step 1. Then, I clicked "Continue". Instead of being taken to step 2, I get a blank page with nothing loading. I tried both Firefox and Safari. Also, I tried to send a note under the "Contact" section but after submitting my note, I got an error: "The operation could not be performed because one or more error(s) occurred. Please resubmit the form after making the following changes: I am sorry but the token does not match."

Guest V64 Posted February 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2010 I have just looked in the Buy/Sell at M Bodies and all I get is a two column listing 'Currency/View Listing' with no information about the item - rather than the normal summary listing
andybarton Posted February 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 8, 2010 Have you logged in? I just get a list of currencies and "View listing" if I don't log in. When I do log in, I see this
Guest V64 Posted February 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was logged in to the l-camera-forum but not to the Buy/Sell section. Until recently it was always possible to browse buy/sell without having to go to the hassle of logging in to that section, something has changed (for the worse). I just do not understand how it helps to insist that potential buyers have to register (again) in order to view what is available. Because of this hassle I have pretty much given up viewing lots for sale - I do not allow any site to remember my login details. End of rant!
andybarton Posted February 8, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2010 It's because the b&s section is powered by different software from the forum. It's a shame that log-ins don't stick, but it's not a big deal to me.
Guest V64 Posted February 9, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 9, 2010 It's because the b&s section is powered by different software from the forum. It's a shame that log-ins don't stick, but it's not a big deal to me. It seems to me that how the two sections are 'organised' is not really relevant. Any site can, if it chooses, allow any reader to browse without registering or logging in. I can understand that you would wish a reader to register before contacting a seller, or indeed to be a member of the main forum as well. Preventing 'casual browsing' in the way you do does not encourage people to look and so has the potential to diminish the selling capability of the section. I also see that 'items for sale' in other Forums (like GetDPI, Luminous L) are listed by Google searches - I guess the requiment to 'login' prevents Google from doing a scan. LUF Admin Posted February 9, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 9, 2010 Hi, the problem mentioned by the original poster should be fixed - but the Buy & Sell still has some bugs. I'm spending part of my nights with discussing the bugs with the software developers - since yesterday I'm optimistic we have found the basic problem but it may take some time until we get it fixed. This causes: - "Remember my ID" not working - Listings only with the currency and "View Listing" - Empty page when logging out Sorry for that but I'm at the limit of what I can do. And: It's definitely no intention to keep anyone out... Best regards from Bonn Andreas
LUF Admin Posted February 9, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 9, 2010 It seems to me that how the two sections are 'organised' is not really relevant. I can understand that you would wish a reader to register before contacting a seller, or indeed to be a member of the main forum as well. Preventing 'casual browsing' in the way you do does not encourage people to look and so has the potential to diminish the selling capability of the section. As said in my last posting: Not my intention. I also see that 'items for sale' in other Forums (like GetDPI, Luminous L) are listed by Google searches - I guess the requiment to 'login' prevents Google from doing a scan. Not true - Google lists about 300 pages in the Buy & Sell: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Al-camera-forum.com%2Fleica-forum%2Fmarket Andreas
Guest V64 Posted February 9, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 9, 2010 My comments assumed that a 'Moderator' was in some way speaking for the 'site', my apologies for that assumption. My comment about Google is I think relevant - I agree that asking Google to do a 'site specific' search works, but doing a general Google Web search (leica items for sale) does not list this site in the first 4 pages. It gets most other sites/forums/shops/dealers etc. but not this one. The benefit maybe that a Seller can expect that a Buyer (being a member of this community) has some credibility. I look forward to seeing the revised operations, thank-you

LUF Admin Posted February 10, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 10, 2010 OK folks, last night and today morning we found and hopefully solved the problem. It was 1 line of code with 29 characters...
andybarton Posted February 19, 2010 Share #15 Posted February 19, 2010 I can confirm that clicking on an advert on the right hand side of the main page now takes me straight to the ad, without needing to log in again. Thanks for fixing this Andreas.
