Gotham Historian Posted February 7, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted February 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't find any information about this finish and none of the usual suspects seem to have it listed on their site. Does Leica make this lens in a chrome finish?

Does Leica make this lens in a chrome finish? Â It has been offered in chrome for a while until about 2004 or 2005. May be you will find it used. Gotham Historian Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #5 Â Posted February 7, 2010 I was hoping to get the 28/f2.8 as a less pricey alternative to the 28/f2 but I really wanted the chrome finish for my chrome M8. The heavier chrome lens is more attractive for the heft factor as well. However, after seeing this video, I guess a black lens is good too. Leicaiste Posted February 8, 2010 Share #7  Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 28/2,8 Asph was made of silver anodized aluminium for some M8/M8.2 special editions:  Leica Camera AG - Photography - Leica M8 White Edition  Leica Camera AG - Photography - Leica M8.2 Safari  It was never sold alone as such. luigi bertolotti Posted February 9, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) As said above, the asph has the special versions in silver, sold only in kit : notice that the Safari and the White are slightly different one from the other; the previous Elmarits 28 (non-asph) wer never made with chrome finishing : I seem to remember just one chrome prototype of the very first version (1964 or so), probably at factory museum. A pity for all chrome lovers like me...... I admit that this could be an element of my appreciation for the 24 Elmarit asph...
