Advertisement Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hi ijporter, Take a look here Padley Forest . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
square_one Posted December 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2006 Too small Ian? Mere computer screens can't do justice to an image like this anyhow. The muted, delicate colors are wonderful - as is the compositon, and I'll bet the slide is killer. Bruce
stuny Posted December 12, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 12, 2006 Ian - Like a neo impressionist painting. Lovely colors, composition and light.

ijporter Posted December 14, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi John, I don't know why it's not bigger. The original tranny was scanned and this created a JPG file of 588kb. I loaded this into my iPhoto Library and opened it from there with Graphic Convertor. I saved it as a separate file, reducing it to 244kb and scaling it to the regulation 960 width. When I do this with some files the posted image is the usual size, ut this one was smaller. When I saw the size, I thought I'd made a mistake and so re-did everything, only to get the same size as before. So, I don't know what has happened. however, I can hazard a guess that someone will let me know where I went wrong! With best wishes, Ian
Canfred Posted December 14, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) A very nice forest scene Ian typical of the blue mountains. I think as the size goes something went wrong it should be twice as large. I think Stuart has said it all
johnjs Posted December 15, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 15, 2006 Ah, I see Ian, you started with a half-megabyte file from the original scan. Still (I'm not completely sure as I don't use iPhoto that much) you should be able to save the original file at, let's say, 800x600 pixels, and still reach the strangely low limit of 250kilobytes for posting here. I use Photoshop Elements, which allows you to work on the original file, and then save it to the graphical size you wish it to be (whether smaller or larger than the original aspect-ratio of the image file, usually smaller). In a seperate process in Photoshop, if you wish, you Save for Web where you specify the data-compression you wish to apply to the previously graphically sized file, and specify the file-format you wish to save the image in, e.g. JPEG. best-j PS/: Picasa WebAlbum slideshow under my profile
