peterv Posted February 11, 2010 Share #81  Posted February 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) and one more for fun...different lighting... the AF is very accurate IMO.....really no problem with the EVF  Andy  Hi Andy,  where do you aim through the EVF to obtain AF? Do you use the one point setting and aim for the middle, wait for the green light, and then recompose? How hard is it to guesstimate the middle of the frame while looking through the EVF?  Thanks, Peter
Advertisement Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Hi peterv, Take a look here X1 for 24 hours. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andym911 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Share #82  Posted February 11, 2010 Peter  I do exactly as you describe to the letter!  I find it pretty easy to look for middle....probably missed focus on 2 or 3 in a couple of hundred shots.  regards  andy
markpsf Posted February 11, 2010 Share #83 Â Posted February 11, 2010 I missed a beat on this one (tho great thread thanks to you guys BTW). Â By EVF do you mean the LCD? Â Thanks. Â Mark
andym911 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Share #84 Â Posted February 11, 2010 Mark EVF means External ViewFinder for me but some mean exactly what you say Electronic Viewfinder...i.e a separate viewfinder attached to the top of the camera in the hotshoe. Â regards andy
markpsf Posted February 11, 2010 Share #85 Â Posted February 11, 2010 Well that's why I'm confused. I do know EVF as in the one used by the Olympus EP2 and the Panasonic GF1. Â But I must have missed something during my absence from this thread for a day. There isn't an EVF for the X1 so what EVF are you guys talking about. Â Thanks. Â Signed, Confused:confused: Â Â MarkEVF means External ViewFinder for me but some mean exactly what you say Electronic Viewfinder...i.e a separate viewfinder attached to the top of the camera in the hotshoe. peterv Posted February 11, 2010 Share #86  Posted February 11, 2010 I missed a beat on this one (tho great thread thanks to you guys BTW). By EVF do you mean the LCD?  Thanks.  Mark  Yes, I understand it can be a little confusing sometimes... EVF is indeed also used for; ElectronicViewFinder. OVF is also used quite often; OpticalViewFinder...  Hope this helps.
andym911 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Share #87  Posted February 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) maybe I contributed to the confusion.....I mean this .....  I don't use the LCD screen at all except for reviewing some shots  andy Welcome, dear visitor! peterv Posted February 11, 2010 Share #88 Â Posted February 11, 2010 That one looks nice Andy! I bought the Leica 36 mm for the X1. Just had to spend some money while waiting for my X1 Â It's very bright, brighter than my MP finder.
andym911 Posted February 11, 2010 Author Share #89 Â Posted February 11, 2010 Peter am sure it is a great finder....I was too stingy and took my old SBLOO (which I adore by the way)...... Â you're going to love the files the X1 produces....really amazing in my opinion. Â regards andy
peterv Posted February 11, 2010 Share #90 Â Posted February 11, 2010 Yes I'm very much looking forward to finally getting the camera in my hands. Thanks for answering my question further above and thanks for the great info and photo's!
markpsf Posted February 11, 2010 Share #91 Â Posted February 11, 2010 Now I think I understand. Â You really meant the optical viewfinder. Â I have the Voigtlander 35mm one, though that vintage one is a beauty! Â Mark

grober Posted February 11, 2010 Share #93 Â Posted February 11, 2010 . . .but some mean exactly what you say Electronic Viewfinder...i.e a separate viewfinder attached to the top of the camera in the hotshoe. Â This is EXACTLY why I stubbornly cling to my X1 AND 36mm Leica viewfinder pro-order: I can't stand any delay in seeing/framing the image before I "snap" the shutter. Every digital camera I have ever handled has a tiny and very annoying delay between moving the camera and painting the new image through the EVF. My camera must have an optical sighting system. Â I will cherish the X1 -- should my dealer ever receive one to actually sell me! -- if only for the reason that Leica understood the needs of their longterm M-shooters.
