Jark89 Posted February 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, can anyone explain to me what "1-area high speed" focus is? The manual only says its quicker focus, but is faster focus acquired at the expense of accuracy? Thanks in advance!

elgenper Posted February 6, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2010 Hi all, can anyone explain to me what "1-area high speed" focus is? The manual only says its quicker focus, but is faster focus acquired at the expense of accuracy? Thanks in advance! It seems not, luckily. What you lose is simply LCD update speed, so if the subject moves fast, it will look a bit jerky. For real action, prefocussing and using MF is usually better. regedit Posted February 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2010 yes, but I use this type of focus with good results. works very good when you shoot in sequence and you want some new focus confirmation even are many chances to be the same as previous shot. the downside is that only center focus, but works great. anyway, another tip is to set focus on the fn key. this allow fast acces to various focus type. in time I realize that I need to change focus type more often than ISO for example. I adjust focus type depending on scene composition, subject, light and even my shooting mood. try first and decide for yourself that high speed focus works or not! for me works!
