banhbao Posted February 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm a newbie and just purchased a used M8. I decided to go with a used 35 Summicron asph. Should I buy the coded instead of the non-coded one? Does anyone have any issue with the non-coded one? Thanks, Brian.
Advertisement Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Hi banhbao, Take a look here Does 35 summicron ASPH need to be coded?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jark89 Posted February 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 5, 2010 I have a non coded pre-asph 35 Cron and it worked fine, I did not see any weird colored corners or anything. So a non coded should be fine for you. However I did self-code mine later on with a Sharpie, just for the hell of it.
luigi bertolotti Posted February 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2010 I have a 35 Cron Asph, and it's coded : just for trial, I made some comparision with lens recognition on/off (with UVIR filter, of course)... well admit that at f 2, in proper test environments (blue sky and white page) you do note a bit of coloring at the corners: probably, real situations in which you relly suffer it are uncommon... but the Asph is such a fantastic lens on M8 that I think is worth to have it coded.
